Golf Quote: “Golf is about how well you accept, respond to, and score with your misses much more so than it is a game of your perfect shots." — Dr. Bob Rotella

Golf Stuff:  The term "birdie" comes from an old saying—when a golfer hit a great shot, people would say, "What a bird of a shot!"…  The oldest golf course in the world is The Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland, known as the "Home of Golf"…  Golf tees weren’t used until the 1920s—before that, players shaped mounds of sand to place their ball on

Golf Quote: “"Golf is a game of finding what works, losing it, and then finding it again." — Ken Venturi

Golf Stuff:  In golf, "taking your medicine" means accepting a tough situation and making the safest possible play rather than attempting a risky shot that could make things worse. For example, if your ball is stuck in a bunker with a high lip or deep in the trees, instead of trying a heroic shot toward the green, you might choose to simply chip out to a safe spot on the fairway. It’s all about minimizing damage and avoiding big numbers on the scorecard. Sometimes, the smartest move is to swallow your pride, take the safe shot, and live to fight another hole!

Golf Stuff:  Last week in Atlanta, my grandson hit the ball left of the green on a par 3.  It hit the cart path and rolled almost all the way back to the tee box!!! PGA Rule:  If your ball rolls backward on a cart path, you cannot replace it where it originally landed—you must play it as it lies or take relief according to the rules.  My grandson was not amused!

Golf Quote: “You can make a lot of money in this game. Just ask my ex-wives. Both of them are so rich that neither of their husbands work." – Lee Trevino

Golf Stuff:  Rules PGA players are not enamored with:  One of the most disliked rules among PGA golfers is the pace-of-play rule, which penalizes players for slow play. Some golfers feel that the enforcement of this rule is inconsistent and that it adds unnecessary pressure, especially in high-stakes tournaments.  Another controversial rule is the ball drop rule, which requires players to drop the ball from knee height instead of shoulder height. Many golfers found this change awkward and unnecessary when it was introduced.  Additionally, penalties for accidental rule infractions, such as a ball moving slightly after being addressed, have frustrated players over the years. Some feel that these penalties are too harsh, especially when the movement is minimal and unintentional.
