Tuesday, June 20th: Fun at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club

Note:  Thursday tee time has moved again... It is now 1:00.

Eight FCCC members, including Charlie Johnson, Bob Coleman, Mike Clark, Dennis Kossmann, Rich Purschke, Bill Hall, Drew Herrick and Tom Dunlavy, made the trip to Meadow Lake Acres Country Club on Tuesday.  It was a beautiful day with warm weather, low humidity and winds up to 10 mph.  A big thank you to Charlie for coordinating this outing!!!

Meadow Lake Acres Country Club is an absolutely beautiful and well manicured club in New Bloomfield, Missouri which is about 10 miles north of Jeff City.

Meadow Lake is a Par 72 course.  Although, the course is relatively flat, compared to FCCC, it is well protected with 9 fairway traps, 26 greenside traps and many large, well placed, trees.  Water only came into play on a couple of holes.

The fairway grass was zoysia, the greens were bentgrass and the roughs were, not too deep, fescue.

The White tees played 6,172 yards and the Green tees played 5,470 yards.

Playing a new and longer course offers unique challenges, but Mike Clark managed to meet his quota and fired a strong 75.

The course was well manicured and watered.  The most outstanding features were the ultra-smooth greens, that were not too fast and the near perfect green-surrounds.  Each green had a minimum of a 3-foot, very well manicured, green-surround and several had very large green-surrounds.

No quotas were updated... Tuesday was just a fun outing:

Aholt 31* Alferman 34 * Blackwell 32 * Clark 34 * Coleman 31 * Cozzo 27 * Crow 31 * Curran 30 * Curtis 31 * Dister 26 * Dunlavy 27 * Eckelkamp 36 * Eggert 32 * Eichelberger 32 * Fortner 29 * Gildehaus 29 * Hall 31 * Herrick 25 * Hoemann 34 * Johnson 30 * Kavanaugh 26 * Kossmann 27 * Loyd 23 * Miller 22 * Mitchell 27 * Moosman 29 * Morris 24  * Meyer 33 * Nealis 23 * Parmentier 32 * Purschke 20 * Sharma 31 * Stoehner 25 * Triplett 30 * Viox 27 * Voss, Chas 25 * Voss, Colby 32 * Voss, Dean 34 * Zastrow 33

Thursday, June 15th: Hall in One on #7!!!

One swing is all it took for Bill Hall to get 5 points on #7.  Bill pulled out his trusty 7 iron from his bag, stood up at the tee box, 138 yards out, wet his finger and held it up to the wind… then with one mighty strike, the ball sailed directly toward the pin, hit 7 yards short and it gently rolled in!  Bill cemented the day with a strong round of 73!

Spectacular Saturday

Only four Oldtimers showed up Saturday to battle the heat and the course. Not playing the points game this would not ordinarily be blog material. One Oldtimers game however was noteworthy. Dennis was dominant. In carrying each of his partners (Bob, then Charlie J, then Bill) to victory he fired off a career low round of 72. The best part is it doesn't go on his quota! We now have six for Meadow Lake Acres on the 20th.

LIV & PGA Merger Day!

Note: Due to the AJGA … No Quota Game on Tuesday June 20th.  We have a 1:30 start on Thursday June 22nd.

Conditions:  On Tuesday, eleven old timers participated: 84-89 degrees, 4-8 mph winds, 27% humidity, very firm fairways and slightly furry greens.

LIV/PGA:  PGA Tour and LIV announced on Tuesday the creation of a new entity that would combine their assets, as well as those of the DP World Tour, and radically change golf’s governance. The PGA Tour would remain a nonprofit organization and would retain full control over how its tournaments are played. But all of the PGA Tour’s commercial business and rights, such as the extremely lucrative rights to televise its tournaments would be owned by a new, yet unnamed, for-profit entity that is currently called “NewCo.” NewCo will also own LIV as well as the commercial and business rights of the DP World Tour. This merger is not final and has to be approved by the PGA Tour’s policy board, which includes some people who were left out of the secret negotiations. The board of directors for the new for-profit entity would be led by Yasir al-Rumayyan, who is the governor of the Public Investment Fund and also oversees LIV. Still a lot of unanswered questions and pissed PGA players!
