Note: Thursday tee time has moved again... It is now 1:00.
Eight FCCC members, including Charlie Johnson, Bob Coleman,
Mike Clark, Dennis Kossmann, Rich Purschke, Bill Hall, Drew Herrick and Tom
Dunlavy, made the trip to Meadow Lake Acres Country Club on Tuesday. It was a beautiful day with warm weather, low
humidity and winds up to 10 mph. A big thank you to Charlie for coordinating this outing!!!
Meadow Lake Acres Country Club is an absolutely beautiful and well manicured club in New Bloomfield, Missouri which is about 10 miles north of Jeff City.
Meadow Lake is a Par 72 course. Although, the course is relatively flat, compared to FCCC, it is well protected with 9 fairway traps, 26 greenside traps and many large, well placed, trees. Water only came into play on a couple of holes.
The fairway grass was zoysia, the greens were bentgrass and the roughs were, not too deep, fescue.
The White tees played 6,172 yards and the Green tees played 5,470 yards.
Playing a new and longer course offers unique challenges, but Mike Clark managed to meet his quota and fired a strong 75.
The course was well manicured and watered. The most outstanding features were the ultra-smooth greens, that were not too fast and the near perfect green-surrounds. Each green had a minimum of a 3-foot, very well manicured, green-surround and several had very large green-surrounds.
