$$$$$ FROM YESTERDAY, AND UPDATED POINTS AND $$$

In order to save key strokes....it does get tougher to see and type the later in the evening it gets...I know you don't really care about my problems. Anyway, I'm going to try and copy and past the info into the blog instead of two finger typing it all. Here goes...

Ok, I can't quickly figure it out. Another day. In the mean time enjoy a pic of Paige from Top of the Rock last year.

REALLY, REALLY OLD TIMER'S TAKE NAMES AND KICK BUTT

The first three teams struggled mightily, and the fourth must have played a course that we didn't. Led by the Acting Commish Dave D, Charlie J, and Rich blitzed the field. They swept the team game and took home most of the individual honors. They squeaked by on the front winning by 1 point (-2), but killed it on the back, winning by 11 points. Well done you three.
Jeff K won the front with an impressive +3, Rich and Bob tied the back at +2, and Dave D won total with +3. Only 4 out of 13 Old Timers finished with positive point days.
Now if we can only keep our shots out of the rough. If any of you feel like volunteering to mow rough, we might be able to keep it below 5".

Total $$$$ and updated points to follow.

Carts are back, the sun was out and Mr. Wind stayed home!!

A beautiful day today, as 3 groups (wouldn't be right to say 12 Old Timers) did battle on a fairly crowded course. Mike C brought his spruced up buggie to the club for the first time. The scoring was greatly improved with Mr Wind taking the day off. Ryan C had a really nice round today (69), tying for the front with Dave D +4, tying the back with Josh and Bob +4 again, and winning total with +8. His team was +3, +2, +5 and failed to bring home any victories. Dave D, Dennis, Terry, and Charlie C won the front +6, and total +7. Bob, Mike, Leroy, and Jeff K won the back +4. 6 Old Timers were positive today. I don't know about all of you, but the little irrigation flags in the cups really helps when making approach shots to the green.

7 quotas changed after today's round.  MC and JE both dropped 1.  CC, DD, LE and JZ all went up 1.  And (fanfare) RC went up 4 ... from 30 to 34.  How is that possible you say?  Well, when we have two rounds ... 30 and 38 ... and you divide by 2.  Well ... you do the math.  That's the biggest change in the history of the Krakow Oldtimers.  And, it was the most people whose quota changed in one day in the history of the United States of America.

CARTS ARE BACK WITH NEW RESTRICTIONS...PLEASE READ

Dear FCCC Members:
Beginning Saturday, April 18, 2020, Franklin County Country Club will begin allowing cart usage.  Further restrictions are being put in place to keep everyone safe and, in addition, not give any reason for further calls to be made to the County Commissioners office. It is very important to remember; THE CONGESTION OF CARTS AND PEOPLE CONTINUES TO BE A CONCERN AND NEEDS TO BE KEPT AT A MINIMUM.  The following policies are being put into place:

Updated Rules for Cart Usage at FCCC
  • Only one person per golf cart – NO EXCEPTIONS – If you are bringing your cart from a next-door property, only one person can ride to the club in your private cart.
  • All groups of more than 4 players will need to have all players on the tee sheet by 8 PM the night before – this helps us account for cart usage for the day.  This means, for groups of more than four players, your groups need to be set the night before.
  • Cart keys will be handed out 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tee time. Private carts should not be parked around the practice green or tee boxes more than 15 minutes prior to your tee time.
  • There can be no more than 4 golf carts around the practice green or first tee at any point in time.
  • There are new restrictions for tee times and cart usage:
    • Monday – Friday – Carts available from 9:00am – 6:00pm
    • Saturday & Sunday – Carts available from 8:00am – 6:00 pm
  • If you think you are 6 feet apart, double it, from a distance, people appear to be standing close together. Many different people can see you from Country Club Road and we do not want cart privileges taken away again.
  • The range will remain closed during this time.
  • These rules are to help us maintain our golfing privileges and help all of you enjoy your time, when everything else is shutdown. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to enjoying the remainder of our limited golfing privileges.

With carts back in use and the days getting warmer, we expect a greater amount of play and highly recommend tee times. Walking is still encouraged. Carts will currently be limited to cart path only.

Let’s work together, with positive reinforcement, to make sure our guidelines are being followed. If you see anyone breaking the rules, kindly remind them or call the clubhouse to report.
This continues to be a great opportunity for all members to get outside, get some exercise and get an opportunity to just get away from everything going on.  Enjoy your course, respect your course and respect your fellow members.

Okay...dinner is over and I'm back...

Nothing better than fried fresh mushrooms and tortelinni with homemade red sauce. I know that we are better than we played today. Yea..the greens are aerated..the grass is growing faster than your waist size is increasing..the wind is blowing and we are walking the hilly confines of FCCC. Still...no excuses. 9 of us, just under the county limit of 10!!! did battle today. Josh, Bill and Terry swept the team game with +2, -5, -3, easily winning by double digits. Josh and Terry split the front with +1. Yours truly won the back at total at +1.
If I failed to mention it earlier....Jimmy E had 10 putts on the front, made at least 100 feet of putts, got up and down, 7 out of 9 holes, Showed me pictures of his new customized fire pit (must be nice as he furloughed 90% of his staff last week) Yea..I know it wasn't his idea.

See you all, when I see you.

WHISKY FOGGGGG

In advance, I once again apologize to anyone that I might offend...especially to Jimmy E who provided to Bob and I a truly fun day on the old golf links. Jimmy displayed some of the best (up and down and one putting), drives that went 50 yards, shots that went into multiple zip codes, on hole #12, hitting his 5th shot from around 150 out to purske range for an easy 6. Jimmy almost tied Charlie J's record of 11 out of 14 up and downs. Jimmy needed 3 up and downs with 4 holes to play. He successfully got up and down for a bogey on 15. The only shot he hit from 15 was his tee shot, almost on 7 green, a shank to the far right 150 marker on 17, that came up 20 yards short of the green, that he smoothly got up and down, again for a bogey. Drive into the trees left on 16, that somehow ended up in the fairway. I did mention to Bob, the Jimmy touched more lumber today than Bill Hall does in a week. Anyway from 150 out, beautiful shot just short of the green. Up and down? Saddly no. Wide right on 17, lay up, then wedge to 15 feet. Drained it again. One more up down to tie the record. Drive on 18 thru the trees left, again, Bill would be jealous. Just right of the green in perfect up and down position. Once again, no conversion. Charlie J still is the up and down record holder. Jimmy's round was like whipped cream on shit...so many bad shots...followed up with some spectacular putting. Thanks Jimmy for a memorable round!!!

Well, my drink is empty...again...and it's time for dinner. Fried morel mushrooms. thanks much to Mike Clark.

ONCE AGAIN THE WIND IT WAS A BLOWIN!!!

It was sunny...OK so much for the positives. It turned a little chilly, and the wind is having a heyday, as it seems to be blowing from all directions. The greens are putting decently, but they are slower than they look. At least to me, anyway. The wind is drying out already dry greens, making them harder to hold.

Bob Coleman will probably disagree with most of what I've said above, as he shot a sweet little 69 today and didn't have any issues with the  course conditions. Bob led his teammates Bill, and Terry to victories on the front (+4) and total(-3). Charlie's C and J, with Josh won the back, despite my miserable -4 performance. Bob won the front (+4), tied the back with Josh (+1), and won total at (+5). Great Playing today Bob under really tough conditions.         ccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc

WAS IT WINDY YESTERDAY OR WHAT?

8 Old Timers showed up for battle yesterday...and it was a major skirmish. With the winds blowing 20- to 30, all of us hoofing it, no pins to see, and freshly mowed greens it was definitely a challenge for all of us but Jeff Kavanaugh. Somehow, he was the only one of us to be positive for the day. Well done, Jeff and congrats to all of us for trekking up and down the hilly confines of FCCC.

almost all of the winning was done by the team consisting of Josh, Jim, Bob, and Jeff. They won the front (+3), and total (-8). Jeff won the front (+4) and total (+3). Charlie J won the back (+1), and with teammates Terry, Bill, and Charlie C, also won the back.

WELL.....FRANKLIN COUNTY CHANGES ITS MIND AGAIN!!!!

The county has decided that we are not successfully implementing the social distancing rules, therefore until further notice we will be walking the course. At least, we might end up a little healthier when all is said and done. keep your chins up, and your head down.

Yesterday was a beautiful day to play. The grass is greening up nicely...good news and bad..as the rough is rearing its ugly head.

Welcome to Mike Clark..who lowered the average age yesterday by joining our group.

With the restriction in place on exchanging $$$$$, we have made a couple of temporary modifications to the game. We will only playing the individual and team games. No greenies. The game will now be $3.00. We will also keep a running total of your winnings or losses, and settle up when this mess is over. If you are not interested in participating in the game, but want to play with the group, please do so. We want to encourage playing golf and staying social, without any pressure.

Yesterdays scoring was pretty good considering the recent aerification, upside down cups, and no flag sticks. Golf is hard enough as it is.

Bill and Charlie C tied the front at +3. Bob won the back with another +3, and tied with Dennis for total, again at +3. Charlie V., Dave A., Mike, and Charlie C. won the front at you guessed it +3. Bob, Dennis, and Charlie J. won the back +5, and total +3.

Running total for each player follows:

Back to the Struggle

Tuesday saw six Old Timers play on a very wet golf course, but with little wind or cold temperatures to add to the challenge. The greens were being readied for Saturdays tournament and were very quick and smooth. Only one of us was positive for the day.. DD at -2, +3, +1 won the back and total. CJ with -1 wins the front. Again, with DD's solid play, the team of DD, DL, and CC with -2, -11 win back and total. CJ, CV. and BH won the front with -5. Greenies... #5 CJ, #7, DL, #11 BH, and #14 CC. While I miss the sun and warmer weather, it was really nice to be back and catching up with everyone. Thursday looks iffy, but as we practice safe distancing..I hope to see more of you next week.

Thursday's Results

Thanks again to the acting commish for all of his help during my little trip down south. After reviewing this weeks results with Brandel Chamblee...the first Old Timer of the Week Award for 2020 goes to Bill Hall. Bill was plus 1 for both days, his team swept all matches, won 2 of 6 individual contests and managed 1 greenie. If he chooses, Bill can use my parking space everyday until the next award winner is selected. And now for the results as submitted by the acting commish……

BC (-3,+2,-1), CV(-5,-3.-8) and CJ (-2,-5,-7) lose all three ways to RP (-1,E,-1), DD (E,+1,+1), BH (-1,E,-1) and JE (E,+2,+2).
JE and DD split the front at Even.  BC and JE split the back at +2.  JE wins the 18 at +2.
BC wins greenies on #3 and #11.  JE wins greenie on #14.  The high winds took their toll on #5 and #7 leaving them greenie free.
The only movement was for RP who went down 1 to 22.

HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!!

It's time to buckle down, put those Costco pants in the cedar closet, and get ready for another year of battle in the Krakow Old Timers Golf Group. The coveted Old Timer of the Week Award will return this year. In addition to the monetary award, this year the weekly winner  will receive a dedicated parking space to use until the next winner is announced. I look forward to returning home in a couple weeks and rejoining the fray. Until then, I will utilize the expert result commentary from the Acting Commish to describe the days play...….
Today marks the beginning of quota adjustment season 2020.  Eight players fought the winds of Franklin County in the year's inaugural match.  After the smoke cleared, these are the results:
The team of BC (-2, +2, Even), KE (-5, +1, -4), CV (-7,-7, -14), and DD (-2, +1, -1) were soundly defeated by the team of RP (-4, -5, -9), CJ (-6, -1, -7) DA (-5, +3, -2) and BH (+1, +1, +2).  The Coleman team was -16, -3, -19.  The Purschke team was -14, -2, -16.  A lot closer than it seemed.
Bill Hall wins the front and 18 with +1 and +2 (the only player plus for the day.  Dave Aholt wins the back with +3.
Greenies were won by BH on #3, BC on #5, DD on #11 and DD on #14.  Nobody got a sniff of #7.  The quotas reflect the committee's new rules.  The last 10 scores will be used and no score lower than -3 will be accepted.  So, if you're -5 for the day a score of -3 will be added to your quota totals.
