Golf News #1: Dennis Kossmann’s doctor said that his groin surgery went well! Dennis will have a follow up visit on September 10th and will then, hopefully, have an idea of when he can return to the links. Hurry back Dennis!

News #2: Your blogger played golf
on Wednesday at the City Club of Marietta.
I played with my daughter’s neighbor, who is a very healthy 90 year old and
his much younger friend, who is 89. Both are retired Army full bird Colonels.
They have played together every Wednesday for about 25 years. I witnessed something that I am certain is one
of the rarest golf feats ever! The 89
year old teed off on our second hole.
His ball went into the lake that is located directly in front of the tee
box. He then held up the club shaft to show us that the driver head had broken
off. The 90 year old, said, “That
deserves a do-over” and proceeds to hand the 89 year old his driver. He re-tees and hits the second ball into the
water. To our amazement, he once again,
holds up the club shaft to show us that the second driver head had also flown
off. Two consecutive swings and two
broken drivers! Now that is one powerful 89 year old!!!

Golf Quote: “Success in golf depends
less on strength of body than upon strength of mind and character.” – Arnold
Palmer
Golf Stuff: It depends on the golf course, but golf pros hit the fairway with
their driver about 7 times out of 10. Professional golfers will struggle with
their driver from time to time in the same way that amateur golfers do.
