Smash Factor effect

Thanks to Mike and his launch monitor Mr 300 found out about his near perfect smash factor on the driving range prior to tee off. His excitement must have spilled over to his teammates since together they routed the competition in the team game. Loghead got off fast to a +4 win on the front while the Lumber Baron took the back at +3. They shared total with +4's and each had a shot almost in the leather on the closest hole's. unfortunately, they were in the first group. Terry n Rich tied for 2nd on front. The other Charlie tied Dennis for 2nd on back and won 3rd total. Bob won closest on 7, Wolford on 14..........Mike Clark -1 to 34. Charlie Johnson +1 to 32. Bill Hall +1 to 35. Eureka, the Fountain of Youth

As most of us Oldtimers age our swing speed slows, we shake over short putts, and our mind plays tricks on us. Not the lumber Baron! Thursday Our oldest Oldtimer carved up the course like a man in his prime shooting a 3 under 68. his +4, +7 won front n total with his +3 taking 2nd on back and carrying his joyous teammates, retread and loghead, to victories on front and total. He also won closest on 14. He was not however the only guy having a good day five players RP, CJ, DA, GC, and MC were only one stroke back on the front. Greg had a marvelous day with a +6 total, Tying Bill for second on the back. Ryan won the back with a +4 and also won closest on the seven..............Health update, Tom's wife Val has her new knee alls well.............IT IS OUR UNDERSTANDING THAT SATURDAY'S TEE TIME IS 12:10 DUE TO "ED'S REVENGE" SHOTGUNNING AT 10AM. DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF THE PIN POSITIONS, SATURDAY'S SCORES WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN QUOTA CALCULATION. Bill Hall +2 to 34. Greg Curran +2 to 29. Ryan Crow +1 to 32. Mike Clark +1 to 35. Sergeant at arms

A new office has been created by the old timers, "Sergeant at arms", to ID players who may not be old enough for the game. Tuesday, Ryan Crowe, who is barely old enough to shave, busted into our a game and cleared most of the money off the table. He shot a three under back (equaled by Outbid) for a +5 to win back n total. Retread continued his resurgence by winning the front and the two of them took both of the closest to the hole. Not to be left out Wolford shot a smooth +3, tied for 2nd on back, and the three of them made a mockery of the team game. mike's two under for the day was only good enough for second on back and total. Terry took second on the front........PLEASE CHECK THE BLOG FOR OLDTIMER TEE TIMES THE WEEK FOLLOWING LABOR DAY. Dave Aholt +1 to 29. Dave Dister -1 to 25. Tom Dunlavy +1 to 24. Saturday’s satire

Fur the second match in a row one golfer needed help in carrying his money poach to the car. Thursday it was Rich, yesterday Leroy. Mediocrity is not enough

on a balmy Thursday 12 oldtimers went off in 4 threesomes. Ten of them would shoot within 2 of there quota, two would excell. Retread won the single slam with a +4, +3, +7. Missle man played Robin and took all the 2nd place money with a +3, +2, +5. And guess what, they drew each other as partners making a mockery of the team game. Their partner, Timmy kneepads, never had it so good. Mr CPA n Outbid won closest narrowly edging Loghead who was sent home crying to his mama.......Charlie Voss -1 to 29. Greg Curran -2 to 27. Monsoon Tuesday

A little rain didn't get in the way of three stalwarts ... Coleman, Hall and Voss ... and one guy who I thought would be the last to show up in questionable weather ... Mr. Wilfred Aholt. They played the game ... albeit all singles ... used their quota and either paid or collected ... so it counts. Coleman threw a nice, little 33 at them on the front and won at +2. He continued his torrid play on the back notching a 1-under 35 for a +1. But the lumber baron was not to be denied shooting a 1-under of his own on the back (+4) and a 1-over total of 72 (+5) to take the last third as well. Bill Hall +2 to 32. Charlie Voss -1 to 30. Dave Aholt -1 to 28. Flying High

Six Oldtimers teed of Saturday on a beautiful day for golf. By the time they reached the 19th hole 2 of them had lapped the field. Tim Morris (kneepads) shot a scorching +7, +7 to win front n total. Mr CPA was solid all day, winning the back and finishing one stroke back with a +6 for total. Joining in the fun with kneepads on front n total were Bill n Mike(who won closest on 14). Mr CPA won back with Grizzly n Mr 300. YES Oldtimers!!!! we did have a Dave Dister sighting.........Tim Morris +2 to 26. Dave Dister -1 to 27. Records are made to be shattered

Thursday 8/12/2022 1800 GMT. Sunny skies, low 80's, winds light and variable, good roll, green speed moderate. There is just no way this course can slow the Border Guard. Shooting 3 under on the front and 2 under on the back he would win or share all six contest. Winning back, total, and sharing the front with Mac he and the Lumber Baron would carry Loghead(and his crooked putter) to a tie on front and wins on back n total. Leroy took 2nd on back and the greenie on 14, CJ on 7. JE, LE, n MM tied for 2nd total with +2's..............Charlie Johnson -1 to 31. Mike Clark -1 to 34. Mac Miller +1 to 25. Charlie Voss appreciation day

Bill sprinted out to a win on the front but Charlie V hung a slick 72 ( the same as his age?????) on the other 4 Oldtimers to take back n total. Dennis played the bridesmaid in winning 2nd on all 3 legs. As befitting their excellance Charlie n Dennis won both closest...Sorry Charlie but now the bad news..........Charlie Voss +2 to 32. Turnaround Tuesday

A majority of the eight all timers rebounded Tuesday from Saturday's debacle to post positive scores. Rich jumped out to a +4 on the front to win singles, closest on 7 and propel his team to victory. Terry was +3 for second, won total, and led his team of BC, BH, n MM to victory on back n total. Bob tied CV for on the back with +2, got closest on 14, and split second on total with a hoard of others......Two quota changes Bob +1 to 35 and Terry +1 to 28.........

Go away cursed July

It wasn'd the heat, the wind was gentle, the greens were rolling ok. so exactly how do you explain a team -22. bio rhythms maybe, domestic issues perhaps, or having 2 brown carts in the group could have led to confusion and golfers were mistakenly hitting each others clubs. The names of these golfers will be withheld to avoid further embarrassment. The team of Charlie V, Mike, and Dennis ran the table on the team game with a stellar??? -4, -8, n -12. Greg won the front with the only plus of the day at +2 before the brown cart guys drug him down the well with them. Dennis won the back n total with even, narrowly edging Mike who shot a smooth 1 over...........Greenie update...In August we will return to 7 n 14 for closest to the hole........Greg Curran -1 to28. Dennis Kossmann -1 to 27. Terry Moosmann -1 to 27. The golfer and the imposter

Seven oldtimers set out Tuesday in a light drizzle which was much enjoyed after the heat wave we just experienced. Two of the 4 man team would boast the same quota but while one would rise to the highest level the other would flounder and fall into the abyss. The border guard would report the only plus score on the front and would have led his team to victory except Loghead triple bogeyed his way to an ignominious -8. The other team(and i use the term loosely) of Bill, Greg, n Mike won front with a -6. Providing inspiration with 5 birdie's on the back and plenty of inspirational talk (vulgarity) Bob and his henchman Grizzly (with 3 birdies of his own) carried Loghead n Retread to victory on back n total. Bill won closest on 5 and true to the statement "there is no fairness in golf" Loghead won closest on 11 even though Mike, who forgot to mark, was probably closer. loghead was last seen taking his ill gotten winnings to buy lottery tickets".............Bob Coleman +2 to 34. Charlie Voss +1 to 30.

We fought the course and “WE won”.

Greg left no birdie unmade romping over the front at +7, tying the back, and winning total with a smooth +8. It was, however, Mac and his band of merry men(Loghead n The Auditor) who won the team trifecta. Mac took second on the front with a cool +5, tied back with Greg n Loghead and took 2nd on total with +7. He will not however, enjoy his winnings since it is almost certain the club will bill him for damage when his ball hit the pin on 5 and damaged the cup leaving his ball within 6" of the cup for closest on 5. The lumber baron won closest on 11................Greg Curran +2 to 29. Charlie Johnson +1 to 32. Dennis Kossmann +1 to 28. Mac Miller +1 to 24.Charlie Voss -1 to 28. Saturday 7/16

The team of Charlie Voss, Bill Hall and Greg Curran swept all three legs of Saturday's event +3, -1, +2 over the hapless team of Tom Dunlavy, Leroy Eggert and Terry Moosmann. The losers posted +2, -4, -2. Individually, Dunlavy's +3 took first. Curran's +2 was the runner-up. The back showed Voss and Moosmann tying with +1. Voss took total with +2, and Hall, Curran and Moosmann tied 2nd at even. Terry Moosmann +1 to 29. Bill Hall -1 to 29. Greg Curran -1 to 27. Leroy Eggert -2 to 30 (he dropped a 38.) Outbid outdoes himself

There was only one story today, and that was the excellence of Mike Clark. In spite of a little bad luck on #16 fairway sand trap he scored 10 birdies and an awesome 64. He scored a singles slam and led his team of Ryan and Leroy to a win on front, total, and tie on back. Dave A was the perfect bridesmaid taking 2nd on front and total plus tying the back. Bob was closest on 5 and Greg on 11.......Four players will have different quotas next time they compete. Dave Aholt +1 to 29. Charlie Johnson +1 to 31. Bill Hall -1 to 30. Terry Moosmann -1 to 28...note; No player may achieve a quota greater than even par or 36..... Tuesday’s turnovers

Turnover..def... The act of a teams (see border guard) losing possession of a ball through error or minor violation of the rules.... loghead got out quick and stayed the course for a singles sweep (+3, +3, +6)on Tuesday. The lumber Baron n border guard joined his victory celebration on the front but then the border guard started bouncing balls in the water and off trees into the neverland and the team cratered. Retread tied Tim for second on the front and also took second total. Guys named Dave tied for second on back. Rich n Dave A, along with Leroy were solid all day winning back n total............Charlie Johnson +2 to 30. Dave Dister +1 to 28. Rich Purschke +1 to 22. Bob Coleman -1 to 34. Tim Morris -1 to 24. Saturday July 9

THE RETURN OF "JZ" Not the husband of Beyonce, but the return of a very good golfer named Josh Zastrow. It's been a long time, Josh. Welcome back. Josh was joined by 6 other Oldtimers on a rare, cool, Saturday in July. Josh was joined by Hall and Moosmann. All three contributed to a solid performance. They beat the team of Eichelberger, Curran, Purschke and Kossmann on the front and total ... Even and +3. Dennis Kossmann's outstanding +4 propelled his team to victory on the back. Individually, Bill Hall's +1 on the front was good enough for first. Zastrow and Eichelberger shared second on the front with Even. The back was a different story. Only 1 out of 7 Oldtimers (who will remain nameless) posted a negative score. Dennis' aforementioned +4 took first and Moosmann's +3 took second. Kossmann prevailed with +3 to win total and Josh and Terry shared second with +2. Terry Moosmann +1 to 29. Dennis Kossmann +1 to 27. Josh Zastrow -1 to 33. He dropped a 2-under 38. Aholt 28 * Blackwell 31 * Clark 36 * Coleman 35 * Cozzo 27 * Crow 31 * Curran 28 * Curtis 30 * Dister 27 * Dunlavy 22 * Ecklekamp 37 * Eggert 32 * Eichelberger 32 * Fortner 31 * Gildehaus 29 * Hall 31 * Harrison 23 * Hoemann 38 * Johnson 28 * Kavanaugh 27 * Kossmann 27 * Loyd 23 * Miller 23 * Moosmann 29 * Morris 25 * Nealis 23 * Purschke 21 * Sharma 32 * Voss, Chas 29 * Voss, Colby 32 * Voss, Dean 36 *

Return of the Keh’s

The Keh Sisters were the 2022 incarnation of the James Gang. Munchkin and Wenyung Keh joined ten Oldtimers today, giving us three, equal foursomes. They took home the loot and quietly went to Meramec Caverns to stash it. At $3.50 entry fee it wasn't that much, but it was worth the price of admission to watch them play. Wenyung, with Coleman, Moosmann and Dister, took the front at +4. She shot a 32 (+3), which we thought was pretty good, but all it could do was tie her sister, Munchin for individual honors. Mike Clark and Terry Moosmann split 3rd at +2. Munchin's team included Charlie Voss, Kossmann and Eichelberger. Her 32 (+4) on the back helped their team go +4, +5 to win back and total. Munchin Keh shot 64 folks! Individually, Mike Clark's friend David Lee and Dister shot +2 on the back to split 2nd and 3rd. Needless to say, Munchin's +7 won individual total, while Wenyoung took 2nd at +3 and Kossmann and Dister split 3rd at +1. It was hot and steamy, and if you couldn't putt the slow greens and weird pin placements like the Keh sisters ... and none of us could ... you couldn't score. +1 was the best the Oldtimers could do, +7 and +3 from the Keh Sisters. Awesome! As for Closest to the pin, Wenyung won #5 and #11. Combined distance ... 3.5 feet. No contest. Bpb Coleman +1 to 35. Greg Curran -1 to 28. The good, the bad, and the ugly

Outbid took off like a house a-fire with a +5 on the front. Jimbo's eagle on 4 got him 2nd. CPA man n the lumber baron were badasses all day tying total with +6's and spliting the back with Grizzly at +3. The ugly? That would have been Loghead, whose lost balls on 17 n 18 kept the team of JE, TM, n DK from a team trifecta by one point. Instead the team of Hall, Dister, n Eggert won back at +1 inspite of some ugliness of his own by Leroy. Retread n Mr 300 won closest on 7 n 14..... BULLETIN.... #5 n #11 will be closest to the hole in July........MIKE CLARK +1 TO 36. Bob Coleman -1 to 34. Bill Hall +2 to 31. Charlie Voss +1 to 29. Tom Dunlavy -1 to 22. Jim Eichelberger +1 to 32. Saturday the 25th

Seven players showed up. Six have different quotas as of today's play. The three man team of C. Voss, Kossmann and Dister won the Front and total at +4 and +3. The four-man team of Hall, Dunlavy, Moosmann and Curran won the Back at +5. Individually, five of the seven were at +2 on the front and split 1st and 2nd money. Bill Hall was +4 on the back and took first. Tom and Charlie V. were at +2 and split 2nd. Hall again prevailed at +6 for total and Tom and Charlie split 2nd total at +4. Newcomer Greg Curran got that lonesome feeling we've all had when he was -9 on the front. But, he snapped back with birdies on 17 and 18 for a nice, +1 back. Greg C. -1 to 29. Dave D. +1 to 28. Welcome to new member Greg Curran

With our new member Greg joining 11 other oldtimers on a great day for golf it was the course that lost for a change. The final total was +35 for the whole group. The onslaught was led by Charlie J and Leroy who tied total with +7 and led Bob n Dave to team wins on front n total with a crazy +20. CJ won front and Greg won back. Bill, with a +6 and Rich with a +5 were solid in helping Charlie V n Tom to team victory on the back. Closest to the pin were Bob on 7 and Mike on 14. AJGA notes. For anyone wanting to see good golf this week was a bonanza. I followed a young girl (Asia Young) from Bend Oregon who was staying in my daughters Airbnb. Although the youngest in the field not yet in high school she tied for 5th place with a +6 for 3 days while playing mostly from the blue tees................Greg Curran +2 to 30. Bill Hall +2 to 28. Practice makes perfect

Two, not so old, Oldtimers teed it up Saturday after playing 18 in the morming. It worked. Jimbo n Outbid started strong and stayed the course. Their partner, Motor Home, won the front and their other partner, The Lumber Baron, was +2 for a team total of +14 on the front. Even their -6 on the back was enough for a team trifecta. Jimbo won total at +5 and tied Grizzly for back. Jimbo n Outbid took closest...........As everybody knows the AJGA tournament will run Monday thru Thursday. The only golf Tuesday will be by the Ladies League. We do have tee times on Thursday of 1:40, 1:50, & 2 oclock. see ya then...........Mike Clark +1 to34. Jim Eichelberger +1 to29. Mysterious disappearance

Questions abound regarding the whereabouts of Mr 300 over the last week. Although he claims to have been nursing his wife back to health there are those who think he may have been at a Dave Peltz advanced short game school. Thursday he returned with a vengeance to shoot a +3+4+7 to tie the front and run away with back and total. Bob n Bill joined Dave on the front with +3's carrying the team to victory on front and total. The fourth member of the team, Denny K, smoked his hookah and gleefully accepted his share of the money. Scouts for the LIV tour were seen following Outbid who shot a smooth 1 under while leading his squad to victory on the back. Naturally. Dave n Mike also won closest to the pin..........Dister +1 to 26. Coleman -1 to 34. Dunlavy -1 to 22. We’re having a heat wave

Only the meanist, toughest, and onerous Oldtimers showed up today to do battle. The Octogenarian, Mr Hall, won the front at +3 with Tom close behind. The young sprout, Bob, won back with Randy close on his heels. Randy won total at +2 with the octogeenarian the only other plus. Randy. Bill, n Bob won the team trifecta"...The team of Terry, Dennis, Leroy n Tom probably could have been more competitive but they were seen at the coolers cussing and fighting for the ice towels..................Randy Blackwell +1 to 31. What a day. The team of Kossmann and Moosmann defeated the team of Eggert, Hall and C. Voss on the front and total ... +8 to +3 ... +14 to +10. The trio nipped 'em on the back +7 to +6. Individually, DK and TM split the front at +4 each. On the back, CV won with +6 and TM came in second at +4. Total was taken by TM at +8 and CV and DK split 2nd at +6. All five players were positive for the day and three of them saw their quotas increase by 2: CV +2 to 27. DK +2 to 27. TM +2 to 29. Leroy gained 1 to 32 and Bill Hall stayed the same at 27. Homeless golfers invade FCCC Oldtimers

It was inevitable, a sign of the times. it only takes a leisurely drive through downtown and the local parks to realize that homelessness is an issue in our town. Thursday, four of them invaded our sacred Oldtimers golf game. they were easy to spot, three of them putted from the wrong side of the ball and the other pretended to be in the Lumber business. some of our Oldtimers rose to the occasion. Jimbo, saddled with two of the indigents( Loghead n the Lumber Baron) fired off a +5, +1, +6 to tie for front with a +5, tie back, and win total. The family dunlavy, with Jeff tieing the front and taking 2nd total took front and total team despite having to take Lefty Leroy to the soup kitchen at the turn. The team of Motor Home, Outbid, and the border guard, devoid of homelessness, powered to victory on back n total. Jimbo won closest on 7 while Loghead claimed victory on 14 despite objections concerning his abuse of the flag stick.".................................. Charlie Johnson -2 to 27. Jeff Cozzo +1 to 27. Big Mac truck roars

Mr 300 was the rabbit Tuesday jumping out to win the front with a +5, closest on 7, and then carry the Lumber Baron and Motor home to victory. But when the big mac truck shifted gears it was all over. with a +3, +4, +7 he won back n total and carried Retread n Outbid to victory. The border guard was closest on 14........... CV -1 to 26. Divot repair day

Tuesday was divot repair day. 16 eager clubbers including Oldtimers Missle Man and Loghead teamed up with Borgia golfers and coaches to spread nearly 5 tons of sand over every one of Jimbo's professional divots. some of his divots were in heavy rough and a few were out of bounds (wait, did i say out of bounds). Following this a nice rain Wednesday helped our repair job and should definitely enhance the enjoyment of our members and guests in the Krakow Cup this weekend..... please remember to sand your divots and one other this summer.........Thursdays matches were a race to incompetence with the final total 32 below. Charlie Voss bucked the trend however with a +1, +3, +4 to take front, back, n total plus closest on 7. Leroy n Bob played solid and along with Tom carried the Lumber Baron to a team trifecta. Leroy slopped one in on 14 for closest..........Of the 10 players in today's field, 9 of them will have a different quota for their next round. Only two added a point to their quotas. Leroy Eggert +1 to 32. Charlie Voss +1 to 27. The 7 who lost a quota point are: Dave Dister -1 to 25. Charlie Johnson -1 to 29. Rich Purschke -1 to 20. Dennis Kossmann -1 to 25. Bill Hall -1 to 28. Bearish

QUOTAS PLUNGE LIKE THE STOCK MARKET If you didn't play today because you thought your score might harm your team, well, you missed out. Out of the five who played today, there wasn't a single, politive nine hole segment to be found. Charlie Voss was -1, even, -1 to split the front inidivdual, win the back and total outright. The team of Hall and Dister won the front at -5, lost the back to Voss, Moosmann and Dunlavy's -8 ... and the teams tied total at -15. Dister split the front individual with Voss at -1 and tied 2nd individual with Moosmann at -6. Hall wins the greenie on 7 and Dunlavy wins the greenie on 14. When the going gets tough, the tough get going

A steady drizzle for the last 12 holes, soft conditions with no role, and a dropping temperature combined to dampen some of the 8 oldtimers games. It didn't slow down our top handicapers however. The Border Guard won front and total and took 2nd on back. Outbid (Who slid down the hill on six after trying to show off his ballerina moves) took the back and together with Jeff F led Rocket Man and Loghead to a sweep of the team game. Jeff n Charlie J won closest. whatya mean you mean you let the deaf guy keep score? next thing you know you'll be letting the blind guy drive the cart. Final tabulations and payout were delayed when Loghead's scoring was found in error(like many errors)........Bob Coleman +1 to 35. Mike Clark +1 to 34. Jeff Fortner +1 to 31. Is Early Voting’s victory in the Preakness a political Thing???

Out of the paddocks and into the starting gates came 9 frisky spirited Oldtimers. The sprinter(Jeff Fortner, a late entry) got out of the chalks fast to win the front and the marathon man(LEROY) won the back n total. It was the herd however (Mr 300, Rocket Man, n Loghead) who romped to an across-the-board victory in the team game. Mr 300 took 2nd on front n total and split on back with Tom. Jeff Fortner had a total lack of respect for the Oldtimers in winning both closest to the holes. The Lumber baron's team questioned his elgibility claiming he wasn't a three year old. The border guard was heard muttering about the added weight he is forced to carry. The auditor ended the festivities by serving up Black Eyed Susans to celebrate his birthday...... Jeff Fortner +1 to 30. Dave Dister +1 to 27. Leroy Eggert +2 to 31. Tom Dunlavy +1 to 25. Bob Coleman -1 to 34. Rich Purschke -1 to 21. Terry Moosmann -1 to 29. Behavioral idiosyncrasies reveal genetic control of phenotypic variability Aka A “Leroy” kind of day

Throughout history oddities have been the bane of society. And no nonconformist activity has been more disrespected than left handedness. Back in the day elementary teachers would snap their rulers on the hands of students writing left handed. on the field of battle they would be refered to negatively as "Southpaws". Some of the "Southpaws" however became the cream of the crop. One of our lefthanded oldtimers quarterbacked his team to a state championship. Tuesday, along with the Lumber Baron, he asserted his dominance against 8 other oldtimers getting both closest to the holes, helping Mac n Bill to a sweep in the ream event, tieing front and taking second on total behind the Lumber Baron. Mr 300 tied Leroy on front and was seen after the match giving loghead instructions on how to uncross his eyes to putt better. The border guard received honorable mention with a 2 under par back for a +3 and second......If you're in the last group ... and you don't win the greenies ... you're just cheatin' yourself." Quote from Leroy Eggert as he left the festivities with both greenies on May 17, 2022 Bill Hall +1 to 30. Bob Coleman +1 to 35. A long time coming

Unlike most of Oldtimers I not only had never got a hole-in-one I had never seen one before Thursday. So when my shot on #3 landed on the front fringe and bounced toward the hole I just thought good shot. When Dave said it's in the hole I still didn't believe it. Then Mike confirmed it and the celebration was on. Golf is a great game when it can get The adrenaline pumping on a 78 year old. Thanks to the 5 points there I posted a +6 on the front and total winning singles and helping my team of Mike and the Dave's to victory on front, total, and a tie on the back. Rich won the back, Bill took second on front and tied for total with DD who was second on the back also. Tom won both closest to the hole......Charlie Johnson +1 to 29. Bill Hall +1 to 29. Climatize dudes, and do it fast

For 10 of the 11 old timers Tuesday it was an oppressive hot and humid day. But for the border guard just recently returned from duty along the Rio Bravo del Norte it was a walk in the park. Carding a cool 68 he won front n total in singles with +5 n +6 and along with Bill n Mac did the same in the team game. Mr 300 won the back at +3 with Audit man (Terry) and Retread (RP) one stroke behind. Retread also took 2nd on total, tied the front with Outbid (MC), and won closest on 7. The banker (LE) won closest on 14. A bunch of guys tied for 3rd on total and the teams with no Bob's on it tied back. "Most efficient shot" of the day by Loghead when his chip attempt went under the ball barely moving it and therefore not requiring him to change his stance. "Cry me a river" shot by The Banker when his drive on 13 into the hill near the cart path never to be found resulted in a 2 stroke penalty..... Rich Purschke +2 to 22. Bob Coleman +1 to 34. The Massacre at Wolf Hollow

Taking very seriously their responsibility to uphold the honor of The Krakow Oldtimers Golf Group three members of the group plus one Guy from the projects entered The Washington Historical Society Golf tournament on Monday with blood in their eyes. It wae a relatively small draw albeit one with Brad Carpenter and some young guns as opponents. Off to a torrid start the Oldtimers (The auctioneer, Davey A, n Loghead, plus Hammering Rick Bouse) were 8 under after 7 holes. Battling some trickey pin placements the Oldtimers stayed the course to shoot a 54, 17 under par to beat the young guns by 3..............Tuesday back at the ranch the temperature went from chilly to cold during the round. It didn't bother The Missle Man, who led Mr 300 and the border guard to a team and singles trifecta, the first time this blogger can recall it happening. Retread got some crumbs and along with Loghead got closest to the pin...........Tom Dunlavy +1 to 23. Charlie Johnson -1 to 27. When a golfer cries on the course does anyone hear him?

soggy conditions in an otherwise excellent day saw 3 of the 5 oldtimers strut their stuff. Rocket man fired off on the front and his booster rocket propelled him to victory on the front n total plus a tie on back. Leroy tied him on back n took 2nd on total. Bill took 2nd on the front. Team Charlie was swimming upstream all day but Loghead managed to get closest on 14. Grizzly hit a beautiful shot on 7 but the disrespecting Banker beat him out by 2". Grizzly was last seen wandering the parking lot wondering where the hell his car was.Leroy Eggert +1 to 28. Tom Dunlavy +1 to 22. Charlie Johnson -1 to 28. Charlie Voss -1 to 26. Drizzle those blues away

Eight oldtimers set out Thursday in an intermittent light drizzle in what turned out to be a long day on the course even though we were off cart path for the first time in many moons. Grizzly Voss jumped out quick and stayed the course winning front and total. Mr 300 won the back and, with Grizzly anchored the team of Tom n Mac to a win on the back. Bob took second on back n total, Bill n Leroy tied front and along with Bob carried Loghead to victory on front n total. Bob n DD won closest on the secret holes of 7 n 14. The group voted for #7 and #14 being the greenie holes until further advised... 'til further notice. Charlie Voss +1 to 27. Bob Coleman +1 to 33. Tom Dunlavy -1 to 21. Mac Miller -1 to 23. Thank you Tom for sharing your wealth

It was the oldtimers honor tuesday to add some great young talent to our humble game. Thanks to the Ray Sharma family who are their host we welcomed The Key sisters; Wenyung, Munchin, and Siyi hailing from Auckland NZ and Izzy Leung from Hong Kong. Wen was a top player for the Washington Huskies where her 133 career rounds tie for 4th all time. Her accomplishments would fill a page but one of her greatest honors was being invited to compete in the inaugural Augusta Womens Amateur Championship. Issy Leung from Shatin Hong Kong played for the University of Hawaii where she led the team in scoring average for 3 consecutive years and was named first team all Big West. The ladies anchored 4 teams and the pleasure of watching them play brought smiles to the 11 old timers present. Along with Bob at 11 siyi won closest to the pin on 5 even though playing from the blue tees. Grizzly and Retread raked in most of the money but there were no losers on Tuesday. Charlie Voss +1 to 26. Michael Parmentier -1 to 32. The answer my friend, is riding on the wind

Wind don't move a bowling ball, and Mr 300 don't shoot splits. Ten Oldtimers showed up today. Temperature-wise ... perfect. The winds ... not so much ... literally howling out of the Southwest. That didn't deter the team of Coleman, Moosmann and Sharma. They handily won the back and total at +4 and Even. Their perfect day was squelched by a +5 front posted by C. Voss, Eggert, Nealis and Dister. Individually, Dister won the front at +5, tied with Moosmann and Sharma at +2 on the back and won total at +7. Hall takes 2nd on the front at +2. C. Voss and Moosmann split 3rd at +1. Moosmann takes 2nd total at +3 and Eichelberger takes 3rd at +1. Nealis wins the Greenie on 7. Dunlavy takes the Greenie on 14. Dister goes +1 to 26. C. Voss -1 to 25. Eichelberger -1 to 27. SOLD! to #67, the man in the camo pants

A recipy for enjoyment. perfect tempature, gentle winds, and a course slowly drying out. Out of 8 golfers one golfer enjoyed it most of all. The Auctioneer shot a cool 67, +4, +4, +8 to win all the singles and carry the team of DA, TD, and BC to a resounding victory. Dave A and Bill won closest on 3 n 11. Resigned to irrelevance Team Charlie (with BH n Terry) resorted to trick shots. Grizzly won in a slam dunk by skipping one over the lake to terra firma on 10. A collection was held for Mr CPA and Loghead who lost money and went up a point. No one gave. For the first time this season, all the changes are positive. Mike Clark +2 to 33. The race to zero, A spring phenomena

Ah, spring golf. Balls blown off course by wind gust, wedges lodged in soggy ground 1/64 of an inch behind the ball, plugged balls lost forever in the fertile subsoil, and greens that go bump in the night. Again Tuesday 5 of the six Oldtimers failed to get their number. Tom won front. Rich tied back and him and Bob won closest. Mike won total, tied back and led his team of BH n BC to victory on back n total. CJ, RP, n TD got the rest of the crumbs. Rocket Man drove off not fully sure why he can help build a rocket to hit a target 3 thousand miles away but can't put that frigging ball in the hole from 4 ft. Mike Clark +1 to 32. No other changes. Old timers invaded by “The Hustlers”

The old timers were privileged to have some talented guest for today's game. Ryan Eckelkamp brought Matt Hoemann and and Bob returned from his tour of guarding our southern borders. The auctioneer was again the toast of the day winning back, total, leading his team of BC and RC to team victory on the back and total, plus winning closest at three. Ryan E won closest on 11. Matt's team of CV, LE, and CJ had a solid effort with no minuses to claim the front. Tom won the front with a whole bunch of guys fighting for the remaining quarters.Ryan Crow -1 to 31. Old men need roll

6 old timers spent so much time cleaning their balls they had no time to concentrate. Missile Man fired off on the front with a +4 to drag BH n CJ along screaming and crying to team win on front and total. Cream rises to the top and the auctioneer was the only plus for the day winning total, 2nd on front, tying BH on back, and helping DD n CV to a team victory on back. Oh, did i mention he was closest on 5 n 11. After crashing in the ocean when his booster rocket failed on the back Missile Man's vibes were so bad his cart died on 17. RIP.......Dave Dister -1 to 26. Fab 3 rules

One day after making the Friday skins group "April fools" the Fab Three (Hertz, The Auctioneer, n Loghead) turned their attention on the other 8 old timers. Saturday

Only 5 of the toughest, most determined Oldtimers teed off into a 20 mph wind with temperatures in the 40's. Henseforth they shall be referred to as the G-5 of the KOGG. The lumber baron hit putts outside his own zip code to narrowly edge The Banker on the front. Loghead was closest on both 3 n 14 and tied The Banker on the back. The Banker won total with The Baron 2nd. Stinky and Hitch showed up and were pleasant to play with. The Charlie's went down Voss to 29 an Johnson to 30.

Rules and regulations aka Dister’s laws

Several Oldtimers have asked why we don't start with fresh quotas every year. Starting fresh would be a bookkeeping nightmare, but using your most recent scores as a base is something your Acting Commish is willing to do. The quotas below represent your last five competitive rounds in the Krakow Oldtimers Quota Game. As your participation increases, your rounds that will be averaged for quota will increase to ten. This will allow more volatility at the beginning of the season. We will still use -3 as the lowest score to be entered. Yes, even if you're -10 on the day, your score will be recorded as -3. We have to protect the field. The committee has also decided to have one Greenie in every round. Charlie Johnson will inform us at the beginning of the round which Par 3 will be the Greenie Hole of the Day. As a result, the daily entry fee will increase to $3.50 per day. The additional $.50 will be awarded to the Greenie winner. Charlie has also volunteered to officiate optional events ... like Skins ... for those who wish to participate. He must be informed of your intent to participate before the beginning of the round. All monies for those optional events must be given to Charlie Johnson. He will disburse them to the daily winners. As always, we ask that you bring the proper change, give $3.50 to one representative per group ... and turn your money and scorecard in before you unload your clubs and change shoes. Charlie Johnson has also agreed to be our official blogger, now that Charlie Curtis has left the fold. I want to personally thank CJ for taking on this task as I am absolutely clueless as to how to publish a blog. So, if there are anecdotes you'd like to share with the group, make sure CJ knows about it. And, we'd also like to recognize Charlie Curtis for getting the blog started in the first place. He will be enjoying Michigan in the summer, but we hope to see him when he's in town. He will be missed. Once again, we're proud to have the fairest game at FCCC. The rules are simple and few: 1. Some part of the ball has to be inside the 24" piece of tape ... marked from the butt of the handle touching the hole ... for a putt to be considered a 'gimme.' This must be enforced by each group. 2. Guidelines for the tees you play from will be as follows: 49 years old and younger ... blue tees. 50 to 69 years old ... white tees. 70 to 79 years old ... yellow tees. 80 through 85 years old ... red tees. 86 and up ... family tees. These are guidelines. You don't have to move tees if you don't want to. But!!! Once you move, you have to stay there. It's too confusing to move back and forth. The Acting Commish will tell you how much your quota increases as you move forward. 3. Play the ball as you see fit and be consistent about it. If you wish to play it down, do so. But play it down every time you play. That will give you the most accurate quota for your style of play. If you wish to bump it, do so. Our rough has a habit of becoming ... shall we say ... unruly ... in the growing season. We've already had torn shoulders and torn wrists from the "hackage" that ensued trying to extricate balls. Our game is fun ... and I repeat ... fair. Also, you are allowed to rake and place in all bunkers. You don't have to hit from footprints or plugged lies. Again, we're the Oldtimers ... for the most part. If you want to play in our club championships, you will have the opportunity to follow the rules to the letter. The game will officially start when the weather permits ... probably Thursday, March 10. But, quota game or not, the stalwarts will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon, Saturdays at 11. Be there at least 15 minutes early for the draw. Now, for the starting quotas. Aholt 30 * List of all who have a quota but are not regulars: Blackwell 30 * Alferman, D. 30 Clark 34 * Alferman, T. 33 Coleman 33 * Butler 29 Cozzo 26 * Ecklekamp 38 Crow 35 * Edmonston 23 Curtis 30 * Fortner 29 Dister 28 * Homeyer 28 Dunlavy 25 * Isgriggs 19 Eggert 29 * Lakebrink 20 Eichelberger 27 * Lamke 20 Gildehaus 29 * Lucy 22 Hall 33 * Marquardt, B. 30 Harrison 23 * Marquart, M. 26 Homeyer, Dale 14 * Parke 30 Johnson 31 * Parmentier 33 Kavanaugh 26 * Sciuto 26 Kossmann 26 * Smith, M 22 Lee 36 * Triplett 28 Loyd 24 * Zastrow 34 Miller 24 * Moosmann 30 * Morris 26 * Nealis 25 * Purschke 21 * Sharma 32 * Thater 27 * Stoehner 25 * Voss, C. 30 * Voss, D. 34 *

Out of the frozen tundra

Out of the frozen tundra. The week in review. Finally, Tuesday brought great weather and eight old timers started brushing off the rust. It didn't take long for Hall n Voss to win FB n T in the best ball contest. Retread Rich claimed closest on 11. Thursday was a chilly 50 and best ball was split with Eggert/Voss winning front and total and Jim/Tom taking back. Voss (heard that name before?) claimed closest to the pin. Tom, Jim, Leroy, and Bill won one skin each. see ya next week

So long to 2021

Thursday Dec 30 On a nice day in the 40's but with no wind nine old timers showed up to ring out the old year. Parity was the name of the game with no one more than 4 strokes away from victory in the Nassau and only 3 skins out. Team Charlie plus Ryan E eked out a victory on the front and total with Bill, Tom, and Josh winning the back in a tie breaker. The Voss clan won two of the skins with Bill winning the third. #7 was closest to the pin and Mr Hall won in a slam dunk.

Off with his head! Winter Commissioner falls down

Thursday 12/16 on a brisk sunny day 9 energetic optimistic old timers played a 2 best ball, 50% skins, and closest to the hole on 3 & 5. The teams were randam draw (my bad) and the elite team of Hall, Voss, and Coleman lapped the field. Tom got two skins and 5 others got one. Voss and Harrison got the closest to the pins. Since our Old Timers group is based on a handicap philosophy in the future we will attempt to meet one criteria: "On the 1st tee box everyone has a chance"

A full house beats all

Tuesday the 14 was a full house of 12 old timers including one on leave from constructing the border wall. The format was 2 man best ball and 50% handicaped skins. Skins were hard to get with 4 old timers getting one each. Best ball, however, was a slam dunk with the team of Loyd/Johnson winning front -3, total -5, and tying back -2. Off season commissioner Johnson promises a varied number of formats depending on # of players and welcomes suggestions(don't call me, i will call you)

Thursday, December 8, perfection on five

What a day, what a round, what a life. after 25 years of golf I have finally witnessed a hole-in-one. Dennis K Lofted a beautiful ball on number five into a white flag it landed and disappeared. On the day the team of Tom, Leroy, Rich, and Dave L swept the team game. In singles Dennis and Rich tied for the front and Tom on the back and total with Dennis second on total. After play we decided to abandon the points game for the winter and play various other games depending on the number of players.

Saturday 12/4

A blustery Saturday found 7 old timers battling for the enormous purse present in today’s golfing world. The team of Dennis K, Bill, and Jeff won handily. Jim, Charlie V, and Tom played valiantly but the lead weight provided by yours truly was too much to overcome. Seventeen guys tied on the front and DK won back and total. I would like everyone’s input on some winter formats. Several players have expressed discontent with keeping the same # all winter. Give me ideas please.

Congrats to Charlie Voss! Yesterday he carried Jimmy E and yours truly all day long as he shot 35-38-73 to shoot his age. It took a nice little chip in for birdie on 18 to do it. Well done CV!!

RSM CLASSIC.....AGE AND ABILITY VERSUS YOUTH AND POWER

Today on another beautiful day, with once again hardly any breeze blowing, I scored for Brian Gay, age 49, OWGR #380 (380 FOR GOD;S SAKE). 5'10" AT 160 LBS. along with youthful Seamus Power, barely out of diapers and Dylan Frittelli, seasoned touring pro (top 10 finish at the November Master's last year). Not counting the 4 par threes, Brian Gay hit driver off of every tee. Power and Frittelli hit about 5 or 6 drivers, with a few fairway woods and several utility irons off the tee. Gay's driver barely kept up with their fairway woods and irons. Gay was fairly accurate with his driver, but played several shots fron the native areas, and with one exception got up and down, every time. On the back he shot a smooth little 30!! Power usually coupled with accuracy, beats the hell out of short and good feel, but Brian Gay was one stroke behind Power and beat Frittelli by 5 shots. It was an impressive day for old short guys. Way to go Brian Gay, snazzy shoes and all. Tommorrow I score for Adam Long, St Louis based pro.

Today I had the opportunity to walk with Tom Hoge and his three amateurs on the Seaside course at Sea Island Ga. The weather was fabulous with just a breath of wind blowing off of the sound. While waiting I walked around the practice putting green.
Patton Kizzre a local Sea Island pro.
One of the caddies using a level on the putting green.
Wait a minute....what is that guy doing??
Anybody need any Callaway stuff?
Former RSM CHAMP
Jason Day teeing off in front of our group.
Tom Hoge and his caddie Harry.
After my round I noticed this double decker Taylormade equipment trailer. Lot's of god stuff in there!! All in all a very rewarding day. Tom Hoge is an excellent example of what and how a PGA Pro should handle himself. He was constantly reading putts for his team, as well as congratulating their shots. Tom took the time to spend time with everyone in his group, even yours truly. A great day was had by everyone. On too tomorrow and the beginning of the tournament.

REALITY ON THE PGA TOUR

Most everyone thinks the the players on the PGA TOUR have it made. Big dollar sponsorships, free this, free that, free Green Egg BBQ grills (yes, that's true). Free luxury courtesy cars and delicious free meals at the hosting club. All you have to do is finish in the top 125 every year. But what about the other 300 plus players trying to get a chance for all of this. Monday qualifiers.....Every Monday before the weekly tour event up to 150 Pros tee it up for 4 spots to play in that weeks event. Half of those 150, had to Pre-qualify just to get into the Monday qualifier. Jeez Louise! Today I had the chance to walk 18 holes with two different threesomes at Brunswick CC. A Donald Ross design that was recently brought back to what Donald intended in 1920 something. Think about playing 18 holes with every green like our 8th hole...with super fast greens and hole locations like we play on 16 everyday. Tough, tough, tough. Consider designing a course using only animals to pull the plows. No large earth movers back then. Consider clubs with wooden shafts and leather grips as tools the players had to tackle the courses. Some of you Old Timers reading this...used those clubs in your early golf careers. 150 young studs and many seasoned Pga veterans showed up today to play for 4 spots. Past Pga tour winners who lost their status. Pga veterans outside the top 125. Aspiring young kids, too. Tommy "two gloves" Gainey, was -1 before I joined him and Sam Saunders (yes, Arnies grandson) who was even. Both shot +5 on the back making them to decide what to do next year, as this is the final stop until 2022. Frank lickliter, Bo Hoag, DJ Trahan, Spencer Levin, Beau Hossler a fairly recent grad who has fallen on tough times. I could list 20 more veterans that showed up without a courtesy car...no snacks and fruit on the tee. No Gatorade in the coolers...just plain old water. No free buffet in the clubhouse. Just 150 excellent golfers of all ages just trying to get a chance to become a part of the top 125..Thanks for showing up today fellas... Enjoy the RSM Classic this week on the Golf Channel. I'll be the guy wearing the pink mirror glasses.

Pink Bird

While kayaking in the marsh today, I came across the below interesting Pink Bird. I've never seen one with this coloring before. Unlike most wildlife near the water, this bird didn't fly away when I got close to it. Enjoy.

JEKYLL ISLAND

Lynne and I traveled to Jekyll Island yesterday to play the Pine Lakes golf course. It was a beautiful day for golf and we had the opportunity to see plenty of wild life and a few really large alligators. The birds were sunning by the 18th tee. Notice their large curved beaks, Truly ugly ugly birds. The gator was also sunning by a pond about 50 feet from the 5th tee box. Lynne was not happy with me stopping to take the picture at all. Stealing from the "bear" joke...I told her that I wasn't afraid of the gator...as I believed that I could outrun her if need be. Take care all.

THE OLD TIMER'S ACTIVE POIN T SEASON IS OVER

The Acting Commish has declared that the active point season is over for the winter. If you continue to play in the game Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday, your points will remain the same until next spring. Continue to play youe same set of tees as you have up until now. If you for some reason you play another set of tees this winter, please adjust your required points up or down as shown on the scorecard. It was a great season for the Old Timer's. Our gae is as fair a game of golfas any handicap contest. Many thanks to Dave Dister for compiling our points list. It is not a simple effort on his part. Also many thanks to each of you who have assisted in the after play scoring and money distribution. Have a great winter and holiday season. Charlie out!

JUST WHEN YOU THINK THE GREENS COULDN'T GET ANY FASTER AND THE HOLE LOCATIONS ANY HARDER

Ed, if you by any chance are reading this we love quick greens and some challenging hole locations, but today was PGA/LPGA material. Top dressing and then rolling mid round made things really tough, not that the Old Timers aren't tough guys, but come on man! ease up a little. The course is in excellent condition, with the leaves changing FCCC is a gem right now. 11 old timer's showed up today and one team battled the conditions better than the rest. Dave A, Tom and Charlie J with even, even, even, win everything today. Dave A takes the front +2, Charlie V takes 2nd and six of you tied for 3rd. Yours truly completes all three Charlie's taking home a little cash from the pot today, with a +3 on the back. Tom, Charlie's Vand J tie 2nd with +1. Charlie V takes total, +2. Charlie J 2nd +1. Too bad if your name wasn't Charlie today. It looks like Thursday is a rainout, so see you all Saturday at 11:00. Charlie Voss +1 to 30. Dave Dister -1 to 29. Aholt 30 * Blackwell 30 * Clark 34 * Coleman 34 * Cozzo 26 * Crow 35 * Curtis 30 * Dister 29 * Dunlavy 24 * Eggert 30 * Eichelberger 28 * Gildehaus 29 * Hall 31 * Harrison 24 * Homeyer, Dale 14 * Johnson 31 * Kavanaugh 27 * Kossmann 26 * Lee 36 * Loyd 25 * Miller 24 * Moosmann 30 * Morris 24 * Nealis 25 * Purschke 21 * Sharma 31 * Thater 27 * Stoehner 25 * Voss, C. 30 * Voss, D. 33 *

IT STARTED OUT CLOUDY AND DRY, WE GOT A LITTLE WET, IT ENDED UP JUST FINE

Golf today was again challenging, we had a little rain for the front nine, and again really tough hole locations. One group stood up and took control of the situation. Team Terry, Dean, Dennis K, plus yours truly won the front, back and total with scores of +3, +8 +11. Surprisingly, the winner from the front didn't come from this team. Charlie V with a nice even par on the front +4, takes individual. Tom, Dave D and Dennis tie for 2nd. On the back the winning team also claimed most of the individual money. Yours truly with +4, Dennis with +3, and Dean with +1, (Jim ties for 3rd ) take the back. Dennis +5 wins total while team Charlie V and C tie for 2nd total. A rare occurrence happened today...everyone on the winning team today was even or positive for the entire day, considering the challenging cnditions. Well done!!\\ Today I did the quotas before I had my "toddies". Leroy Eggert -1 to 30. Bill Hall -1 to 31. Paul Nealis -1 to 25. Aholt 30 * Blackwell 30 * Clark 34 * Coleman 34 * Cozzo 26 * Crow 35 * Curtis 30 * Dister 30 * Dunlavy 24 * Eggert 30 * Eichelberger 28 * Gildehaus 29 * Hall 31 * Harrison 24 * Homeyer, Dale 14 * Johnson 31 * Kavanaugh 27 * Kossmann 26 * Lee 36 * Loyd 25 * Miller 24 * Moosmann 30 * Morris 24 * Nealis 25 * Purschke 21 * Sharma 31 * Thater 27 * Stoehner 25 * Voss, C. 29 * Voss, D. 33 *

UPDATED POINT TOTALS

Dave Aholt -1 to 30. Charlie Johnson -1 to 31. Charlie Voss -1 to 29. Aholt 30 * Blackwell 30 * Clark 34 * Coleman 34 * Cozzo 26 * Crow 35 * Curtis 30 * Dister 30 * Dunlavy 24 * Eggert 31 * Eichelberger 28 * Gildehaus 29 * Hall 32 * Harrison 24 * Homeyer, Dale 14 * Johnson 31 * Kavanaugh 27 * Kossmann 26 * Lee 36 * Loyd 25 * Miller 24 * Moosmann 30 * Morris 24 * Nealis 26 * Purschke 21 * Sharma 31 * Thater 27 * Stoehner 25 * Voss, C. 29 * Voss, D. 33 *

IT WAS CHILLY, IT WAS WINDY, THE LEAVES ARE EVERYWHERE, AND THE HOLE LOCATIONS ARE GETTING HARDER

It's no wonder with the conditions out there none of the Old Timers was positive for the day. Just when you think that the hole locations can't get any more difficult...they do! Twelve of us struggled to get the ball in the hole all day long. Once again it was four teams of three, which is a great game. The front was a little easier to score on as two teams managed to be +2. Charlie V , Jim, and Lroy tied with Dave D, Dennis K, and yours truly. The back was really ugly....reminds me of a little ditty we used to sing.....U G L Y you ain't got no alibi you Ugly!! you Ugly! Dave D, Dennis and yours truly wins the back -7 and also total -5. Individual scoring was not pretty either....Jim ( a baby Old Timer) was even for the day and took total. Pretty decent round. Dave D, Rich, and Tom tie the front with +2. Bob, Jim and Charlie C tie the back -1. Dennis is 2nd on the back as Dave D and Charlie C tie for 3rd. It was made official yesterday...the leaf rule is in effect until further notice. Again, to receive relief from a ball not found in a leafy area, it must be assumed that the ball would have been found if not for the leaves. Balls in the woods, near a hazard or the water probably will receive no relief. Before ending todays blog, I want to address my "eye" comments from Tuesday. It appears that my attempt at humor missed the mark and came off as a little offensive or defensive (depending on your side of the story). Enough said. See you all Saturday.

BEAUTIFUL DAY TODAY...EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE SOME DIABOLIC HOLE LOCATIONS

I have one simple thought.....if you don't like my temporary eye condition....you don't have to look at it. For the record I was helping a teammate locate his errant shot. As they say...no good deed goes unpunished. Another thought...instead of me wearing an eye patch...you could wear two of them...problem solved. Today was a fabulous weather day, the course is as good as we can expect. The hole locations were extremely tough..I did see Ed playing this evening...at least he gets to experience what we do. Today 12 of us played as four threesomes...which is a fabulous game. Team Charlie V and C, along with Mac won the front...Oh wait our accountant pointed out that his team.. Terry, Lroy, and Charlie J actually won with +2. Bob, Bill and Rich take the back +1, while two teams tied for total -3. You know who you are. Charlie C wins the front +4, Charlie J 2nd +2, Charlie V and Terry tie 3rd. All three Charlie's cashed in on the front. Rich and Dave D tie on the back with +2. Bob and Dennis K tie for 3rd. Dave D with the only positive front and back takes total +3. Rich is 2nd +2 and Charlie's Vand J tying for 3rd. Not bad golf today for really challenging conditions. Mack Miller -1 to 24. Aholt 31 * Blackwell 30 * Clark 34 * Coleman 34 * Cozzo 26 * Crow 35 * Curtis 30 * Dister 30 * Dunlavy 24 * Eggert 31 * Eichelberger 28 * Gildehaus 29 * Hall 32 * Harrison 24 * Homeyer, Dale 14 * Johnson 32 * Kavanaugh 27 * Kossmann 26 * Lee 36 * Loyd 25 * Miller 24 * Moosmann 30 * Morris 24 * Nealis 26 * Purschke 21 * Sharma 31 * Thater 27 * Stoehner 25 * Voss, C. 30 * Voss, D. 33 *

MY GOLF SPY STUDIES THE PRO V1

PLAYING GOLF YESTERDAY WAS BETTER THAN A STICK IN YOUR EYE (MINE ACTUALLY)!!!

Beautiful day yesterday as 11 Old Timer's took to the course. Lot's of good golfing your ball, as 9 of the 11 were positive or even for the day. Let's start today reporting the individual results.....Rich +4 wins the front, with Jeff K and Bob coming in 2nd with +3 each. Steady play saw Bob winning the back and total at +3, +6. With a pair of +3's (Dave I apologize for interrupting you multiple times during your announcement of the scores) Jeff and Bill tie 2nd total. Rich and Jeff led Leroy and yours truly to a victory on the front with a fine +8 total. As might be expected Bob led a strong team (Dave D, Bill, and Tom) to victory on the back and total +4, +9. ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL FALL DAY FOR OLD TIMER'S TO GOLF THEIR BALL

The greens are recovering nicely from aerification, some are really soft and some are really firm, and some are just right. But they could be a little quicker...I'm just say'in. Only 2 of the 11 Old Timer's were positive today, and both they and their teams won money todat. Charlie J led Rich and Dennis K to victories on the back and total..+2, -2. Tom led his team, Ryan, Dave A, and Bill to a victory on the front +1. Tom won the front +5, tied for 2nd on the back and won total +6. 3 tied for 2nd on the front. Rich turned around his -4 on the front to win the back with +2. Charlie's J ad C take 2nd and 3rd respectfully for total. There will not be a Saturday game due to the Hummingbird Tourney. Tom Dunlavy +1 to 24. Bob Coleman -1 to 34. Aholt 31 * Blackwell 30 * Clark 34 * Coleman 34 * Cozzo 26 * Crow 35 * Curtis 30 * Dister 30 * Dunlavy 24 * Eggert 31 * Eichelberger 28 * Gildehaus 29 * Hall 32 * Harrison 24 * Homeyer, Dale 14 * Johnson 32 * Kavanaugh 27 * Kossmann 27 * Lee 36 * Loyd 25 * Miller 25 * Moosmann 30 * Morris 24 * Nealis 26 * Purschke 21 * Sharma 31 * Thater 27 * Stoehner 25 * Voss, C. 30 * Voss, D. 33 *

BEAUTIFUL WINDY DAY FOR OLD TIMER'S

The temperature was great for fall golf, off of the paths, and most of the rough saw the rough mower at least come close to each hole. The greens are getting better and rolling much better. Only three of us managed to be positive for the day, while the remaining 7 struggled a bit. Charlie V, Dennis and Dave A win the front and total, +3, +1. Bob, Terry and Rich win the back at -1. Dennis wins the front +3, with Dave A taking 2nd +2, and tying for 1st total with Terry +4. Terry wins the back +3, and Dave A taking 2nd +2. Too many ties for third too mention names...play a little better to get your name in the blog...For the record Dave A gains 1 to 31...I was just a little premature..... Dave Aholt +1 to 31. Charlie Curtis -1 to 30. Terry Moosmann +1 to 30. Aholt 31 * Blackwell 30 * Clark 34 * Coleman 35 * Cozzo 26 * Crow 35 * Curtis 30 * Dister 30 * Dunlavy 23 * Eggert 31 * Eichelberger 28 * Gildehaus 29 * Hall 32 * Harrison 24 * Homeyer, Dale 14 * Johnson 32 * Kavanaugh 27 * Kossmann 27 * Lee 36 * Loyd 25 * Miller 25 * Moosmann 30 * Morris 24 * Nealis 26 * Purschke 21 * Sharma 31 * Thater 27 * Stoehner 25 * Voss, C. 30 * Voss, D. 33 *

A STORY WITH A MORAL.......

In 1923, Who Was: 1. President of the largest steel company? 2. President of the largest gas company? 3. President of the New York Stock Exchange? 4. Greatest wheat speculator 5. President of the Bank of International Settlement? 6. Great Bear of Wall Street? These men were considered some of the world’s most successful of their days. Now, 98 years later, the history book asks us, if we know what ultimately became of them. The Answers: 1. The president of the largest steel company. Charles Schwab, died a pauper. 2. The president of the largest gas company, Edward Hopson, went insane 3. The president of the NYSE, Richard Whitney, was released from prison to die at home. 4. The greatest wheat speculator, Arthur Cooger, died abroad, penniless. 5. The president of the Bank of International Settlement, shot himself. 6. The Great Bear of Wall Street, Cosabee Livermore, also committed suicide. However: in that same year, 1923, the PGA Champion and the winner of the most important golf tournament, the US Open, was Gene Sarazen. What became of him? He played golf until he was 92, died in 1999 at the age of 95. He was financially secure at the time of his death. The Moral: Screw work. Play golf.

PUTTING SHOULD NOT NEED TO BE THIS CHALLENGING

From many personal experiences, we all know that aerifying our greens is crucial to keeping them healthy. Instead of punching them once in the fall...you punch them three times....will they be three times as healthy??? We can only hope so. The old adage fits well here....if you wish in one hand and shit in the other......which one fills up faster?? Normal golf maintenance practices call for preparing the course for play early in the day so that everything is ready for your entire 18 holes. I.E. each green is mowed, rolled etc for your round. Yesterday was quite the roller coaster on our greens. In addition to aeration, with some greens having more or less top dressing than the others...we decided it was a great idea to mow some of the greens mid afternoon, then roll some of the greens as well. With the exception of you few Old Timers that have putting challenges on a regular basis.....it was certainly a challenging day trying to figure out the greens. Those who did so, we congratulate you. Enough of my rambling....and I am not under the influence of any alcholic fluids. Now back to yesterday's results. Before that, I must digress...one of our fellow Old Timer's suggested the my earlier posting of the female tennis player was actually a male tennis player. Please scroll down and closely examine the picture and decide for yourself.. 12 of us showed up yesterday, with only two of you being positive for the day, meaning 10 of us were not. Dave D, and Dennis K led Mike and Tom to victories on the front +3, and total -1. Charlies V and J, Rich and Dave A won the back +1. Dennis wins the front +4 and takes 2nd total +1. Bob is 2nd on the front +3, Bill and Rich tie 3rd. Charlie V, Dave A, and Ton all tie on the back +1. With his continued steady play Dave D wins total +2. Tom Dunlavy -1 to 23. Terry Moosmann -1 to 29. Aholt 30 * Blackwell 30 * Clark 34 * Coleman 35 * Cozzo 26 * Crow 35 * Curtis 31 * Dister 30 * Dunlavy 23 * Eggert 31 * Eichelberger 28 * Gildehaus 29 * Hall 32 * Harrison 24 * Homeyer, Dale 14 * Johnson 32 * Kavanaugh 27 * Kossmann 27 * Lee 36 * Loyd 25 * Miller 25 * Moosmann 29 * Morris 24 * Nealis 26 * Purschke 21 * Sharma 31 * Thater 27 * Stoehner 25 * Voss, C. 30 * Voss, D. 33 *

NO MATTER WHERE YOU TEE THE BALL UP......65 IS A FREAKING GOOD SCORE!!!

We jokingly say that someone is on fire during the round after having a few good holes...but Bob was blazing away all day. A spectacular round including a hole out from 16's fairway bunker for a duece!! All told Bob was +8 for the day, which for you who are needing help with the math is 42 points. Certainly one of the highest point totals for our little group of Old Timers. Bob, Dave A, Dennis K, and Mac win the front +6, and total +7. Rich, and Charlie's Z and C squeak out the back at +2. As good as Bob's day was he didn't sweep the individual. Dennis H won the front with +4. Bob takes 2nd, +3. Bob wins the back and total +5, +8. Three of you tied for 3rd on the front, and three for 2nd on the back. Dennis K takes 2nd total with +4. 9 of the 11 Old Timers were positive or even for the day. Don't forget that golf Saturday will start a little later due to the Battle of Krakow Ridge. Bob Coleman's amazing 42 point day elevates his quota to 35. Congrats, Bob, on your terrific rounds. Aholt 30 * Blackwell 30 * Clark 34 * Coleman 35 * Cozzo 26 * Crow 35 * Curtis 31 * Dister 30 * Dunlavy 24 * Eggert 31 * Eichelberger 28 * Gildehaus 29 * Hall 32 * Harrison 24 * Homeyer, Dale 14 * Johnson 31 * Kavanaugh 27 * Kossmann 26 * Lee 36 * Loyd 25 * Miller 25 * Moosmann 29 * Morris 24 * Nealis 26 * Purschke 21 * Sharma 31 * Thater 27 * Stoehner 25 * Voss, C. 30 * Voss, D. 33 *
