Dave managed 2nd on the back +2, and 2nd total +6, as he led his team to a victory on the back +1, and a tie for total +1. Really well done Bill and Dave today.

SOME SIZZLING GOLF THURSDAY
38...37...and 36! Yesterday saw some excellent golfing of the little white (or yellow) ball. We'll start with the individual portion today as several good rounds were played yesterday. Bob wins the front with +5 (that's a 32 if your counting!) Dave D and Bill tie for 2nd at +3. Aided by an ace on the 11th hole, Dave D easily wins the back with +6 (again a little 34 if you are paying attention). Charlie J and Mike (35) tie for 2nd with +2. Dave also takes total honors with a mighty good +9 on the day. Excellent scoring yesterday Dave!! Bob takes 2nd +5 (38 points and 69 for the day). Mike with +3 is 3rd (even par day). That was a great display of golf!!! Dave and Mike, along with Charlie V (who was the beneficiary of a lucky draw) swept the team game +3, +4,+7.
The Acting Commish aced the 11th today, helping his team sweep the three-team field. His sudden and unexpected attach of coordination resulted in an even-par round. Dave Dister +1 to 29. Bob Coleman +1 to 34. Bill Hall +1 to 30. Jeff Cozzo -1 to 26.

Thursday saw 8 Old Timer's take to the course. Each team had one very hot player as Charlie J, and Dave D battled it out for individual honors. Charlie won the front +4, took 2nd on the back +2 and edged out the Acting Commish with +6 total. Really nice round Charlie. Dave won the back with a nice one under for +5, and 2nd total, also +5. Bill with a +3 on the front managed 2nd. The team game was split as Terry, Charlies J and V, and Bill win the front +7, and total +4. Dave, Bob, Tim, and Rich take the back. Charlie J reported in that Bill was closest on 7, and that he himself won 8 and 17 with birdies.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!!!!
Now that I have your attention. Saturday saw a small group of Old Timer's take to the course. Another complete sweep was made by Dave D, Leroy, Rich, and newcomer Jeff Thater, +5, +2, and +7. Individual honors goes to Rich +3 on the front, Dennis +2 on the back and Rich again for total with +4. Too many ties too mention everyone splitting a dollar. The Acting Commish reported in that newby Jeff eagled #16 from 93 yards. Excellent result...as I don't know if it was a good shot.
The weather was spectacular ... the carts were off the path ... we welcomed a new member, Jeff Thater, but still only fielded 7 players.
Bill Hall +1 to 30. Leroy Eggert +1 to 31. Jeff Thater +1 to 27.

OLD TIMER'S RIDE THE PATHS TO VICTORY
Seven Old Timer's took to the cart paths yesterday with some not so stellar results. Bill posted a +2 and Bob managed +1 on the front. All other scores were even at best. Bill, Dave D, and Leroy won the front and total, tying the back. Leroy and Mike posted a pair of evens to win something, along with Bob who ended the day even. Charlie J reported in that a couple of additional wagers were added to the days play. A random pick after play identified a skin opportunity on the front and back, as well as a grennie opportunity on one of the five par threes. Bill wins the skin on the front, Mike on the back, and Leroy the greenie on 7. Now we will have a guest commentary from the Acting Commish...................................
AND FOR 40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS THEY RODE THE CART PATHS WHILE ALL AROUND THEM WERE RIDING THE TURF!!!
NEWS ALERT 1: We have it on good authority that the, "Emergency board meeting outcome was a decision to table hole #18 renovations at this time."
NEWS ALERT 2: Don't forget, there will not be a game this coming Tuesday, July 6. The course is closed 'til 2 at which time it will open for the Ladies League. See you Saturday, the 3rd.
The Acting Commish had the honor of being partnered with Leroy Eggert today. Sadly, Leroy hit his drive into the lake on #10. One in ... two out. With horror and astonishment he rinsed his 3rd shot as well. Three in ... four out. With 160+ yards left to the green, he pushed his 5th into the woods. A magnificent punch almost holed out his sixth. "If you sink this for double, I will write this up for the blog," said the AC. He snaked in his 15-foot-7th for a double in an unbelievable display of "never-giving-up." Leroy's team went on to tie the back as a result of his Herculean efforts. Hall was even heard to say, "You're my horse if you never win a race!"
Dister loses 1 to 28.

SATURDAY OLD TIMER RESULTS
It was a small showing, but Charlie V continued his solid play and led his team of Tom and Bill to victories on the front, +4 and total, -4. Charlie J, Leroy and Dave D managed to win the back with -7. That appears to have been a huge suprise to those three old timers. Charlie V runs away wih the individual, taking all three bets...+4, =, +4. Tom takes 2nd on the front +1, and total -1. Charlie J and Leroy tie the back with -1's.

WEATHER OR NOT.....THE GAME MUST GO ON
Today's blog is courtesy of our Acting Commish...........................................................................................Three threesomes teed off and then the horn blew when the lead group was on #4. The Acting Commish thought all returned to the safety of the clubhouse ... but alas ... two of his teammates left the premises without so much as a "fare thee well!" Could they have left him because he had 9 putts after the first three holes? We'll never know. One contender ... a Mr. Coleman ... left his team in much the same manner ... and he had a par, eagle and birdie for his first three holes ... 10 points and he walked. Is he nuts???? At any rate, the acting commish took his place, the third team remained intact, and the stalwart 6 forged ahead with their first three holes in the books. It turned out to be a nice day. Tom Dunlavy +1 to 23.

CLUBHOUSE RENOVATION ASSESSMENT VOTE FAILS!!!
Good news travels fast!!! I have it on good authority that the assessment vote failed 127 to 117. A slim margin indeed, but as I refresh my VO and water, I toast Jim E for his huge effort in getting the message out to the membership explaining why a no vote was the only vote. Well done Jimmy!!!!! Here's to improving our golf course and not the clubhouse.

SOME DAYS IT JUST AIN'T RIGHT .....(CORRECTION...)
A mathmetical miscalculation last night caused me to incorrectly calculate Charlie V's front nine score. He actually shot an even par 35 and not a 33. Still...it was a great nine holes. So apologies too all for my mini-rant last night. It might have been some bad VO that caused the problem. Before lavishing praise on Dave Aholt, I need to address the fact that Charlie Voss shoots 33 on the front nine and doesn't win individual!! Something just stinks about that. Charlie does manage to take 2nd with his +4, and lead his team, consisting of Bob and Terry to a +3 victory. Now...on to Dave Aholt and his tasty day of golfing his ball. Not only did he play well, he carried his teammates Bill and Rich to victory on the back and total +1, +1. Dave won the front +5, back ,+3 and total +8 for a clean sweep of the individual game. Excellent day Dave!! Dean V takes 3rd on the front +3, and ties 2nd total with a non-relative of the Voss clan, Charlie J (who is part of team Charlie btw...) Bob and Rich tie 2nd on the back. Excellent front nine Charlie, and great 18 Dave. On a side note...during the Beech Mountain Men's day 2 man stableford competition yesterday, my 20 handicap partner and I took 2nd out of 10 teams in championship flight, losing by one point. Now...back to watching the U S Open.

TUESDAY RESULTS
8 Old Timers took to the links yesterday and Charlie V continued his solid play as he led his team of Bob, Dave D, and Terry to victory on the front, +2, tie on the back, -2 and another victory for total at even. Bill, Rich, Tom, and Charlie J managed to tie the back. Bob and Charlie J tied the front, +2. Bill won the back with a nice little 35, good for +4. Charlie V takes 2nd on the back, +3 and wins total +4. Bill comes in 2nd total with +3.
Hot but surprisingly comfortable. Greens have slowed greatly in the past week. Ask Bob Coleman. No matter what he tried, he couldn't get it to the hole. But he took it like a true gentleman. Eight players ... two changes. Charlie Voss +1 to 29. Tom Dunlavy -1 to 22.

LONG.... HOT.... MUGGY....SATURDAY
Well..six Old Timers spent their Saturday struggling to make their points. But one Charlie V, made it look like a stroll in the park. Charlie led his team (Leroy and Tom) to victory on the back with even, and total -6. Charlie easily swept all three legs of the individual with +1, +1, +2. No one else was close to catching him. Bill, Dave D, and Dennis managed to win the front by one stroke with -5. Leroy, Tom, and Bill tie 2nd on the front with -1. Tom is 2nd on the back with even, and 2nd total -1. Yesterday was definitely a change from the recent solid Old Timer play. And now a few words from our Acting Commish.................
It was a hot, muggy day. Typical of summer in Missouri. Most of us are used to it, but it was particularly unpleasant because it took 4 hours and 35 minutes to play. Lots of sitting in the heat and waiting.
This past week, we were informed that golf on Mondays, when there isn't a tournament, will be pushed back to a 2 p.m. start at the earliest. When you're still working for a living, that's not a big deal. But when you're an "Oldtimer," it is a big deal. It essentially tells you there will be no golf on Mondays anymore. Not only that, we won't even have the option from October to April, because the club will be closed ... period. But, "that's what other country clubs do."
Some of us remember that renting our golf course for outside events was limited to one Monday a month. Well, Boards change and I'm sure no current Board member remembers that rule. I believe this month alone there are three Monday tournaments.
My point is simply this. If we want to run FCCC like a country club, then let's do just that. Let's start realizing that membership has its privileges. No more guests on weekends before one p.m. ... like other country clubs ... no more reciprocals on weekends before one p.m. ... like other country clubs ... no more outside tournaments on weekends before one p.m. and then by tee time only, not shotgun starts that close the course for members hours earlier. Let's allow those people who paid to be members of a country club ... and particularly those who work all week and look forward to their weekend golf ... let's let them enjoy the perks of their membership.
In other words, let's start treating FCCC like a country club and not like a public course.
There were no quota changes.

RAINY DAY IN THE MOUNTAINS
Golf cancelled yesterday due to rain, and it has rained almost all day today. It looks a little warm in WashMo, but it's 59 here today. During a break in the weather Lynne and I came upon this new Fawn, who was wet and shivering.
These are a couple of pictures from outside our house.
This is the current view.
Make sure you hydrate and use your sunscreen.

A NICE TURNOUT...BUT ANOTHER COMPLETE SWEEP
The high power trio of Mike, Randy B, and Bob showed why they deserve high qoutas, as they swept the day with +1 on the front, +2 on the back, and +3 total. The remaining three teams managed to return only a positive nine twice at +1. Must have been a tough day on the links.
Bob continues his solid play with a 34 on the front good for +3 and a winner. Bill was 2nd with +2, and Dennis 3rd +1. Tom found his way on the back and won with a nice +4. The acting commish ties 2nd with Terry and Randy at +3. 7 0f 12 Old Timers regained their form and were positive on the back. Bob agains win total with +5 (70 for the day). Tom and Dave D tie 2nd for total with +3. 7/12 were even or positive for the day.
TEE TIMES ON THURSDAY, JUNE 24 WILL BEGIN AT 11:20 DUE TO METRO CUP. PLEASE BE ON THE PRACTICE GREEN BY 11:05 FOR THE DRAW.
Please stay in touch with the group in front of you. Thank you for your attention to pace of play.

A TALE OF TWO NINES
With the exception of Mike Clark, who had two positive nines +2, +2, and didn't win front, back, or total; everyone else had one positive nine, and then one negative nine, or just had a bad day altogether. Strange day on the links, at least on paper. Bill, Charlie V, and Rich were each positive on the front and easily won that with +5. Not good at all on the back, and then won total wih -4 (you can do the math and figure out their back nine score). Dave D, Bob and Dennis take the back at +4. Rich won thw front +3, Mike 2nd with +2, and three of you tied for 3rd at +1. Dave D with a sweet little 34 on the back was +6, Bob came in 2nd +3, and steady Mike comes in 3rd, +2. Dave D captures total with +5, Mike at +4 is 2nd, and Bill and Charlie V 3rd with even. Mike and Dave D, both had very nice days today. Well done. Adios from beautiful Beech Mountain.

THURSDAY OLD TIMER ACTION
Reporting in from Beech Mountain, North Carolina. This morning it is extremely foggy, with minimal visibility. Our tiny roundhouse is on Skiloft Rd, which runs along one of the Ski Resort runs. We are about 150 feet below the top of the mountain...5506'. For sure it will definitely be an interesting two months. Luxury and spaciousness are two words you won't hear me say. First stop yesterday was to visit the club membership office and get our photo id's as transfer members of Beach Mountain Club. Lynne and I will be trying our hand with PickleBall, and hiking the 27 miles of trails on the mountain. We are hoping to play a little golf this weekend, before my first round with the boys Monday. I will continue to try and bore you with more of our activities as time moves on.....
Nine Old Timers showed up yesterday and six of you were treated to a severe beatdown from Dennis, Charlie J, and Rich, as they swept all three ways with an impressive +7, +5, +12 day. Led by the solid play from Dennis +3 (2nd), +5 (1st), and +8 also (1st). Charlie J wins the front with +5, takes 3rd on the back, and 2nd total +5. Very good days by both. Rich was heard to say "thanks guys" as he left the club. Dave D had a decent day tying 3rd on the front with Charlie V, 2nd on the back +2, and 3rd total +3. Enjoy the weekend, as the Krakow Cup takes over the course.

TUESDAY OLD TIMER RESULTS
A good showing of old timers (12), took to the fairways yesterday, and solid
play continued. It would be nice if we could fire up the rough mowers, and mow a
little grass. The greens are still firm and a little slow, but they are covered
in grass and the nematodes appear to have gone elsewhere. Once again, one team
swept the front, back, and total. Bill, Dennis, and Tom played well with +8, +2,
+10 for the day. But individual honors were swept by Bob with a really nice 2
under on the front for +5, +2 to tie 3 others on the back, and +7 to run away
with total. All said it resulted in a 69 for the day. Well done Bob! Bill and
Dennis +4 tie for 2nd total. Good scoring continues with 7 players positive or
even for the day.

IT WAS A GREAT DAY FOR GOLFING YOUR BALL
11 Old Timers were all smiles as they took to the course yesterday. It was a beautiful day, warming up nicely, with a little breeze to make things comfortable. The course is finally starting to green up nicely, and looks really good. A little attention to detail would do wonders for FCCC. 9 of the 11 players were even or positive for the day. Pretty damn good competition yesterday, but one team stood out when all was said and done. With Tom leading the way team Charlie sweeps the front +10, back +4 and total +14. Tom continues his improved play winning the front +5, takes 3rd on the back +2 and wins total +7. Great day Tom! Bill, Tim, and yours truly tie for 2nd on the front +3. Leroy takes the back with a nice 1 under resulting in +4. Charlie J 2nd with +2. Charlie J +5, and Bill +3 are 2nd and 3rd total. Some very solid play today by our group.
Lots of pluses today, but only one Oldtimer is rewarded with a higher quota. Bill Hall goes up 1 to 30. Four Oldtimers will lose scores that are at least 4 higher than their current quotas next time around. So, unless scoring continues to be good ... there will be some downward movement on Tuesday.

A LITTLE WIND, A LITTLE RAIN, AND A LITTLE MUD
Ten old timers took to the course yesterday and were treated to windy conditions, a short rain storm and pretty slow putting surfaces. I must admit, I actually made some regulation ball marks instead of the usual skid marks on the greens. There might be hope for softer greens, but if the temps stay up and the wind continues to blow, maybe not. Scoring was decent, as 5 players were positive for the day. The team of Bill, Tom, and Charlie J was the class of the field, sweeping the front +3, back -3, and total +3. Bill and Tom, along with the Acting Commish tie the front with +3. Charlie J and Rich tie the back, also +3. Bob and yours truly take 3rd with +1. As 3's were wild yesterday...Bill, Charlie J, and Bob tie total with +3.
Charlie Johnson goes +1 to 30.

Rain out after 9 today.
Golf was rained out after 9 holes today. On a very positive note, Charlie Voss, along with Bill and Jeff finished playing after the rest of us bailed out. Matching his even par start on the front, Charlie shot his age today...a very nice 71. Well done and hoping there is many more days like today.
No harm, no foul. I knew Joe had a good round when he played his first and only quota game two years ago. His team would've still won today and he would've still finished 2nd individually. with his 14 quota on the front. He is an established 29. Welcome to the game, again, Joe. Looking forward to seeing you more often.

BEAUTIFUL SPRING DAY YESTERDAY
With fingers crossed, it just might be possible that the Old Timers get in three days of play in the same week. Chance of rain Saturday afternoon, but it's looking good. Speaking of rain...we could sure use a little more water on our tees and greens. Not to forget the new sod that looks like it is starving to death. Oh well...the zebra never changes its stripes.
Scoring is improving as we move out of spring. 2/3 of yesterdays players were positive or even for the day. Dave D, Charlie J, and Dennis had a very nice day, as they won the front +8, total +9; and each with +3 tied 1st, 2nd, and 3rd individually for total. That is not all of the winnings they had yesterday...Charlie J wins the front +4. Dave D ties the front with Leroy +3, and ties the back with three others, who will remain nameless. Rich wins the back with +3, and Dennis manages 2nd on the back, +2. Somehow, Bill, Charlie V, and Rich were able to improve 9 points on the back, and win total +3. An interesting point...Dave, Charlie J, and Dennis each managed to end up with +3's. Might be the first time that this has happened.
Charlie Voss -1 to 29.

UH!!!....MAYBE I COULD HAVE GIVEN OUT THE ACTUAL RESULTS!!!
Dave D, Rich, Bill, and Dennis win the front, +1, and tie total, also +1. Bob, Charlies V and J, along with Dave A take the back +3, and you guessed it...tie total. Dennis wins the front, +4, 2nd on the back, +2, and takes total +6. Dave D is 2nd on the front, +3, and ties for 2nd total with Bob, +2. Dave A won the back with +3. Everybody got a little bit of their investment back yesterday.
TUESDAY RESULTS
Yesterdays golf action is provided by the Acting Commish....while he mentions the unfavorable playing conditions, only 2 of the 8 players were negative points for the day. Without further ado...the Acting Commish.....
It's May for Heaven's sake! The Northeast wind was howling. The course is still wet ... even though we were off the paths (except 12 of course.) Downwind putts were fast. Upwind putts were dirt slow.

ANOTHER REALLY WINDY AND TOUGH GOLFING DAY
It's always a great day when golfing your ball with friends is involved, but once again yesterday was certainly a challenge. The wind was constantly changing, the pace of play slowed to a crawl on the back, and the greens were a little fuzzy. Did I fail to mention that the rough is becoming very healthy, even after being mowed. Ten of us took to the first tee, with no one scoring any better than even for the day. Bill, Tom and Dennis, won the front +3, and total, -5. While Dave's A and D, along with Bob, took the back at -4. As expected, all three teams were minus for the day. Tom and Dennis with +2, tied the front, with Charlie J coming in 3rd at even (including a 40 foot putt, and holing out from the sand on number 4). Dave D wins the back with +1, Bill 2nd at -1, Charlie J and Ray tying for 3rd. Dennis and Dave D tie total with a pair of evens, and Bill and Charlie J taking 3rd, each with -2.
Charlie Curtis -1 to 32. Bob Coleman -1 to 31. Dennis Harrison -1 to 22.

WE WERE OFF THE PATHS...BUT IT WAS STILL WET...AND WAS IT WINDY OR WHAT??
8 of us battled the course today, and while we were off of the paths, it was still fairly wet. Not much forward roll at all, if any. The wind was everywhere, and mostly not helping. Downwind was much worse, as it was almost impossible to stop the baLL on the green. Putting was another story!!
The foursome of Bill, Dave D, Dennis and Charlie C won the front, +4, and total -1. Charlie V, Terry, Leroy and Tom win the back with -3. It was another tough day to score. Dave D wins the front with a nice +2, while Terry, Bill and yours truly tie for 2nd at +1. Tom brings it home on the back with the days best round of +3. Bill and yours truly continued their solid play with +1 on the back, and tied for total. Only two of the eight today managed positive totals for the day. The course is definitely showing its teeth these days.
Four Oldtimers drop a point ... no Oldtimer sees a quota increase. Charlie Voss -1 to 30. Dennis Harrison -1 to 22. Leroy Eggert -1 to 30. Terry Moosmann -1 to 26.

IT WAS REALLY WET, REALLY WINDY, AND REALLY LOPSIDED!!
Yesterday we found the course to be inundated with water, yet the greens were still on the firm side. Scoring was tough, with only one Old Timer reaching a positive result and one breaking even. Two teams of four started out with smiles all around, but at the end of the day the winning team was hoping to just have won the front. As it turned out, the team of Dave's A and D, Dennis and yours truly easily won the front, even, the back, -3 and total, -3. Said team, with each Old Timer at even, tied the front. Unusual, to have everyone have the same result. Dave A won the back +1, and total +1, with Dave D coming in 2nd with another pair of evens. It was definitely a challenging day at the course.
No quotas change. 10 rounds ago everyone had a low number. However, Curtis will drop a 39 next round. Voss will drop a 31. Aholt loses a 30. Hall and Harrison drop 29s. So there's a promise of volatility.

TOPSY TURVY TUESDAY
I'm still a little irritated about yesterdays round. we played 13 holes in about 2 hours..excellent pace of play...then we encounter the group from hell and take forever to finish behind them. Very frustrating..as we have had the benefit of many years of uninterupted pace of play.
Enough of my grumbling, and on to the results. Starting on the back...Charlie J, Bill and Leroy win with even. The front was won by Bob, Terry, and Dennis H at +3. Total was a tie between Charlie J., and Bob's teams at -3. Individual winners...Charlie V and Leroy tie the back with +3, Rich +2 coming in 3rd. Terry wins the front, also at +3. Dennis is 2nd with +1, with Bill and Leroy claiming 3rd with even. Total was also tied by Leroy and Terry, again with a score of +3. Charlie V is 3rd at +2.
Two Oldtimers went up 1. C Voss to 31. T Moosman to 27. Two Oldtimers dropped a point. D Aholt -1 to 28. D Harrison -1 to23.

THURSDAY OLD TIMER RESULTS
April has been one strange weather month. We have seen pretty much everything but a drought, and we still have a week for that to happe. Nine Old Timers divided into three teams found a challenging time of scoring really well. Scoring was bunched together pretty closely. The team of Dave (D and A) along with Bill swept all three games with scores of even, even, even. The other two teams were -1, -2, -3. 3 players were tied at +2 on the front..Dave D, Bill, and Tom D. Leroy and Dave A tied the back with +1, as Bill and Tom again cash in with a pair of evens. As expected Bill and Tom tie for total at +2, and Dave D and Leroy with +1 tie for third.
THE FOLLOWING RECOMMENDATIONS ARE NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS HAVING THE SUPPORT AND BACKING OF THIS BLOG, BUT ARE THE OPINIONS OF THOSE THIRD PARTIES.
It was brought to my attention yesterday that we should make a few changes to our after golf procedures. In order to keep the first players finishing from having to wait any longer than they currently are, the last group upon finishing 18, should proceed directly to the scoring area, pay their teams entry and provide a completed score card. After scoring and payouts, the final group can then return their carts and bags to their cars.
Comments and your thoughts are welcome as always.
Charlie Johnson -1 to 29. Charlie Voss -1 to 30.

THURSDAY OLD TIMER RESULTS
Yesterday was a pleasant day, not too chilly, with a slight northern breeze. It was nice to be off of the cart paths, and the greens are recovering from the recent aeration. Nine of us played in threesomes, but the outcome was never in doubt. Bill led the team of Charlie J and Bob to a sweep of all 3 matches, +5, +5, +10. Bill wins the front, +4, ties with the Acting Commish +3 on the back, and takes total at +7. Nicely played Bill. Charlie C and J, respectfully took 2nd and 3rd on the front. Bob was 3rd on the back with +2. Again, the Acting Commish takes 2nd total, +4, with yours truly coming in 3rd.
Bob Coleman -1 to 32. Charlie Curtis +1 to 33. Dave Dister +1 to 28. Bill Hall +1 to 29. Rich Purschke -1 to 24. And a new player whose initials are MM is a 25.

It was a small group of 7 playing yesterday and for newly aerated greens, the scoring was decent. The four man team consisting of Dave A, Leroy, Tom D, and Charlie J easily won the front and total with +6 and +5. Bob, Bill, and Charlie V eaked out a one point victory on the back at even.
Tom wins the front with a nice +4, Charlie J is 2nd. Charlie V wins the back at +2, with Leroy and Charlie J in 2nd. Both Charlie's V and J tie at +3 for total.
Dave Aholt -1 to 29. Charlie Voss +1 to 31.

CHALLENGING SATURDAY FOR OLD TIMERS
The weather cooperated yesterday, but the course offered a lot of challenges for the nine Old Timers who showed up. A few played well, with four finishing with positive results. The front was a struggle for all three teams, but Charlie V, Bill H, and Dennis squeaked out a victory with -4. Charlie J led his team of Tom D, and the Acting Commish as they won the back +2, and total -3. Charlie J and Bill tie the front with +2. Charlie V manages 3rd. Tom wins the back, with Charlie J second. Charlie J also wins total, +3, Bill 2nd, Tom and Charlie V 3rd. The course as it has transitioned from sloppy wet to extremely dry, firm, thin and fast is making for some challenging play. Nobody has ever said that golf should be easy.....
Charlie Johnson +1 to 30. Tom Dunlavy +1 to 21. My apologies to Dale Homeyer. His quota is 14. We have a -3 Max drop rule and I calculated his quota at -8.

TUESDAY SAW SOME BETTER SCORING
9 Old Timers took to the course today...and I mean that literally. The cart path only sign was no where to be found. 5 of the 9 players were positive for the day. All 3 of the Dave D, Dave A, and Charlie V team were positive. As a result they won the back, +5 and total +7. Tom D and Charlie J drug yours truly accross the line to win the front with +4. Tom D was steady today with +3, +3, =6, sharing the front with Bill H, and Charlie V. Tom tied the back with Dave A, and took total honors by his lonesome. Well done today Tom. Dave D was 3rd on the back, and tied for 3rd total with Dave A, and Charlie J. Charlie V was 2nd for total. Everybody got a little money back today, with the exception of Leroy and newcomer Dale Homeyer.
New Player: Dale Homeyer 12. Charlie Curtis -1 to 32.

SATURDAY OLD TIMER RESULTS
Many thanks again to the Acting Commish for providing us with a summary of todays action...........The weather was nice ... the course wasn't. Ten guys played ... two plus scores on any nine ... 10 total minuses. Charlie Voss (-2, +1, -1), Jeff Kavanaugh (-1, -2, -3) and Tom Dunlavy (-1, -2, -3) swept the team game. Charlie Johnson won the front at +2. 4 oldtimers split 2nd and 3rd at -1. On the back, Charlie Voss took first at +1 and again 4 oldtimers split 2nd and 3rd at -2. Johnson and Voss tied the 18 at -1. Third place was tied by 3 at -3, but there wasn't enough to pay them their 33-cents. Again we came up short. From now on, one guy collects from his team and pays it all to the "Treasurer of the Day," whoever that's going to be. It just isn't working with individuals throwing money on the table and reaching in to collect their share. The guys at the end inevitably get stiffed! Ryan Crow drops 1 to 35 and Dister drops 1 to 27.

TUESDAY ACTION
The Acting Commish provides today's results without his usual flourish.....................Charlie V. leads his team to a sweep, takes the individual front at -1, the back at +2 and shares the +1 total with teammate Bill Hall. Their third member, Dennis H. shares second on the back with Hall at +1. Hall also won second on the front at even. Charlie J. drops 1 to 29. No other movement.

TUESDAY OLD TIMER RESULTS
Our Acting Commish reports the play from yesterday.....
It was a miserable day. Cold, wet, sloppy. Yet, seven Oldtimers made an appearance. After all the flailing ... and reported cart-driving issues ... there was one plus score out of the 21 possibilities. Rich Purschke tossed a little +1 grenade into the group on the front 9 and walked away with the individual honors. Tom Dunlavy and Bill Hall split second at -1 and the team of Rich, Tom and Leroy took the front at -3. On the back, the hapless team of Hall, C. Voss, Dennis H. and C. Johnson recovered from their -12 front showing with a -9 and came within one point of tying the back ... losing to -8. Leroy's Even took backside honors with Tom, C. Voss and C. Johnson splitting 2nd at -1. Tom took the 18 with a -2 day and there was no reported 2nd place awarded. Tom's team swept the day, of course. Oddly enough, with all those negative scores, no one dropped a point.

OLD TIMERS SATURDAY RESULTS
The air was chilly. The ground was soaked. (Remember the drainage assessment?) Ten players showed up. (Well 9 for the draw and then Johnson appeared.)
The team of Sharma (-3,-3,-6) ... Dean Voss (+2,+2,+4) ... and Eichelberger (E,+3,+3) won it all with a -1,+2,+1 performance.
Individually, Dean and Ryan Crow split first and second on the front at +2. Jim E. and Dister split 3rd on the front at Even. Jim E. takes the back at +3. Dean gets second at +2 and Johnson and Dister split third at +1. Dean wins total at +4. Jim takes second at +3. Ryan gets third at +2.
Bill Hall declares for the Gold tees starting Tuesday. His quota will be 28. Watch out boys. There will be a new sheriff in town and his first name is Billy.
Sharma -1 to 31. Johnson -1 to 29. Crow +1 to 36. Dean Voss +1 to 33. Dunlavy -1 to 20.

TUESDAY OLD TIMER ACTION
The Acting Commish speaks his prose for you.......
Eleven played. The winds blew. Two were plus. But who needs nice weather if you're lucky enough to draw Tom Dunlavy when the wind is howling ... the greens are rock hard and slick as 30 weight. Tom's +4 was far and away the best round of the day. And Charlie Johnson proved once again that he's a real competitor with his +1. Everybody else? Running around the course looking for their hats.
Tom D., Dennis H., Charlie V. and Dave D. go -3, +3 and Even for a clean sweep of the team event. Individually, Tom D. won the front at +3 and 18 at +4. Dennis H. finished 2nd on the front with Even and 6 guys tied for third at -1. They each put their 16 cents in the tip jar ... a grand gesture. Charlie V. won the back at +4 ... and that includes an up-and-down for par from the "black bowels" of 16 ... a beautiful save from down by the 14th green. Charlie J. and Dave D. tied for 2nd and 3rd on the back at +2. Charlie J. won 2nd place total at +2 and Dave D. and Charlie V. tied for 3rd total at Even.
Tom D. +1 to 21. Charlie J. +1 to 30. DH -1 to 24.

OPENING DAY 2021 FOR KRAKOW OLD TIMERS
The Acting Commish has been practicing all winter on his writing skills....he never fails to come thru with his on the scene feel to his story telling. Drum roll please........
The season started out with one team being so completely dominant it felt as if they phoned their scores in from a different day. Bill Hall made the right draw and here's why. There were 11 players. 5 of the 11 had a plus day. Three of those 5 were on Hall's team. Hall was not one of them. Hall's teammates Eichelberger, Crow and Johnson were plus 8, plus 2 and plus 6 respectively. Add that to Hall's minus three and they went ... +6, +7, +13 for a clean sweep over the also-rans. Individually, Jim E. won the front at +7, came in 3rd on the back with +1 and won the 18 at +8. Charlie Johnson's +6 on the back easily brought him first place money for that effort and he finished 2nd individually with +6 as well. Harrison had a tast +3 on the front and won 2nd. Ryan Crow's +2 on the front brought him 2nd place money for that. Ray Sharma and Dean Voss split 2nd on the back at +3, and Sharma took 3rd money for total at +3. Leroy Eggert and the aforementioned Jim E. split 3rd on the back in an act of benevolence by the commissioner. To share as much of the wealth as possible on this first session of the season, the commish took the back nine dollar and split it with Eggert and Eichelberger rather than giving the extra buck to the tie for second ... which we will do in the future. Sharma took 3rd for total at +3.
Five players either lost or gained a point on this first day. Leroy Eggert -1 to 31. Bill Hall -1 to 27. Dave Dister -1 to 28. Tom Dunlavy -1 to 20. And ... drumoll ... Ray Sharma went +1 to 32. Weather permitting, there will be a game Tuesday and Tursday at noon.

IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN
A growing group of members want to get the season started while we're enjoying good weather. So Saturday, March 6, at 11 a.m., balls will be in the air playing the quota game. To those who wish to play Skins, you are welcome to add Skins money to the $3 quota game entry. However, it will be optional and someone playing Skins will have to handle the payout. The rules of our game remain the same: play the ball as you see fit, but play it that way all the time. Bump it. Down. Doesn't matter. But your quota will be based on the way you play it. Be consistent. Gimmes will be awarded if any part of your ball lies within 24" of the hole as measured from the handle. Every single stroke counts, so continue playing until you reach triple bogey or worse. Then pick up.
Eagles are 5 points. Birdies 3. Pars 2. Bogeys 1. Double bogeys are 0. Triples are -1.
Please play quickly. Stay in contact with the group in front. Payouts will be based on the number of players active that day. Individuals will be paid for their winning efforts on the front, back and total. Same holds true for teams. If your quotas are an odd number ... 23 for example ... the quota on the front will be 11 and 12 on the back.
Bill Hall will get 11 a.m. Saturday tee times and I'm hoping Charlie Johnson will continue getting Tuesday and Thursday tee times beginning at noon.
Charlie Curtis has agreed to post results and quotas on Krakowoldtimersgolfgroup.com blog. Dave Dister will continue to calculate quotas based on last 10 rounds.
Remember, -3 is the maximum number of strokes allowed for posting. For example, if your quota is 30 and you get 25 points, 27 will be posted as your score.
Looking forward to seeing you all in the heat of battle again. Listed below are all the starting quotas for the season.

Sea Island Club-Seaside Course
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to play the Seaside Course at Sea Island Club. Home course of the RSM Classic, where I volunteer each November as a part of the Walking Scorers group. One of the perks is for volunteers to play either the Seaside or Plantation Course (which is used thursday and friday of tournament week). Wednesday morning started off pretty chilly for the beach...35 degrees. By the time we got to the course, it was in the upper 40's with a 5-10 mph wind, off the water. I must tell you that when I got on the practice facility, which is unbelieveably nice...I was thinking about my cart cover and propane heater...which was missing me back in WashMo. After hitting a few putts on the putting green, which is relatively flat...I knew I was in for a tough day of figuring out the green complexes. The greens are very large and undulating, with closely mown bermuda surrounding them. Large deep bunkers do a great job of catching errant approach shots. As one of the caddies said earlier during the tournament, Seaside has some of the widest fairways on tour (keeping in mind most of the holes were a dogleg of varying degrees, which created a lot of decisions on which line to take off of the tee). As a result, my driving was the highlight of my round, missing only one fairway all day, plinking it out there 210 to 230 yards. Playing the White/Silver Tees, which played around 5700 yards, with good drives for me, still left me with 14 approach shots with mainly 5, 6, and 7 irons. Only 2 of the hole locations were close to the middle of the greens, with the remaining being close to the edges. Aiming at most flags never seemed like the right play, so I aimed at the center of the greens. As a result, my first putts were 30 -60 feet from the hole. Yikes!! My putting results were horrible for the day...7 three putts!! Only 2 one putt greens for the entire day. I missed a 3 footer on 18, to shoot 80. The conditioning of the course was truly unbelievable...everything was perfect from the tees , through the fairway to the green complexes. Bunkers were large, deep and everywhere. But extremely playable and fair. The views of the water and many marsh areas could be a little distracting, but really added to the overall experience. As Lynne was able to ride along with me, (she was not allowed to go to the tournamant) it turned out to be one of my best days ever on a golf course. Sea Island Golf Club is definately a destination that should be on your bucketlist. Bring your checkbook with you, as it is a little pricey.
See you all in a few days.

A FEW THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS ......LIVE FROM ST SIMONS ISLAND
It seems like the RSM Classic will never get here each year....but boy does it fly by once the action starts. I can't believe that today was my last day to work until next year. The RSM is never really crowded with typical PGA Tour spectators, but without the bleachers and sky boxes surrounding the finishing holes it felt totally different from my past years working the event. With the exception of more lost balls from errant shots, the caddies and players enjoy the empty tournaments without fans, even though they will proclaim on interviews that they miss them. I had the chance today to watch the final group play 16, 17, and 18 on TV... a few observations...the greens are in beautiful shape, smooth as a babies butt, with plenty of extra rollout, much nicer than they came accross on my tv. Almost all of the player/caddie conservations, even putts involved the wind factor. The wind blew in from the north at 13 to 20 mph everyday I was there. The players ability to flight their shots, and hit them without a lot of spin is truly amazing to watch. I will say that tv doesn't do the course justice, the surrounding views of the water and marsh areas are simpley beautiful. The green surrounds are almost all closely mown bermuda, and create super tight lies for chipping. Short chips into the grain, posed a few problems for even these guys. The bunkers are deep, but perfect. i never saw a bad lie in four days, regardless of the type of shot that was hit from the tee or fairway.
As you all know that I am interested in clubs and shafts; I spent a lot of time every chance I got looking into bags and eyeballing the caddies as they put clubs back in the bag. Especially interesting is the custom putter covers and headcovers these guys have. Too bad that I couldn't take pictures for you to see.
Since he is not playing in this years event, Davis Love III has been seen quite a bit around the property. Yesterday morning, I spotted him sitting in a work cart wearing shorts and an old sweatshirt talking to a few people. I overheard a few player conversations about his new house he is building (his 260 acre marshside house was destroyed in a fire last spring).
I hope that I didn't bore you with my ramblings. See you all in a few weeks, and have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Thursday Play as reported by Terry M
Thanks to Terry for providing the results to yesterdays Old Timer action. It was nice to see the name Kenny Triplett listed on the results sheet, and it looks like he might have taken a few dollars back to Springfield. Ryan C, Tom, and Terry win the front at +3. Bill, Kenny, Tim, and Charlie J capture the back and total...+1, +3. Front individual honors were tied by Tom, Terry, and Tim..all at a nice +3. Ken wins the back with +2, while Charlie V, Tim and Terry each had +1. Terry and Tim tie total at +4, with Tom and Kenny tying for 3rd at +2.
As much as I love watching the Masters, it is a little different without the fans crowding every fairway. The drone shots are spectacular, allowing us to see angles that we never get to see. Phil has made the most of his 47 1/2" driver...Bryson...not so much. Also..the rough is as high as ever seen, not FCCC quality mind you, but shaggy none the less. Enjoy the final two days of coverage. Signing off from St. Simons Island, GA.

It's a Beautiful Day in Myrtle Beach..
Todays verbage will once again be provided by the Acting Commish....please read his public service announcement following yesterdays results. Again...if you haven't yet...please thank him for all of his efforts throughout the year to provide us with our accurate quota reporting.
A quick recap of Tuesday's game. 11 players. Each of the three teams won a leg. The front was won at +2 by Charlie Voss, Harrison, Dunalvy and Moosmann. The back (-6) went to Loyd, Hall, Eichelberger and Dister. Total (-8) was taken by Aholt, Purschke and Johnson. The individual front was tied by 3 guys at +2 ... Hariison, Moosmann and Johnson. Dave Loyd won the back at +2. Harrison was second at Even. Voss and Aholt tied for third at -1. Harrison won total at +2. Charlie Voss second at Even and Johnson and Moosmann tied for third at -1.
Now we gotta take a minute to talk about something that's becoming more critical as we move through Fall into Winter. Mother Nature. We lose two minutes of light a day. Leaves are everywhere. We have to target 3 AND A HALF HOURS as the pace we must play to get that last group in before dark. We're lenient by every stretch of the imagination. If you can't find a ball that should be found ... Leaf Rule! Drop one where it should be and play on ... no penalty. Spot your ball when hit. Help each other spot. If a guy skulls one across the green (for example) ... somebody else chip or putt while he's moving to his ball. Don't stand there with hands on your hips while he's rushing like crazy to take his next shot. And if somebody hits what you think is out of turn, don't be mad, be grateful he's doing everything he can to keep it moving. Ready Golf! When you get to your ball, hit it and then help your partners. Mother Nature says honors are out the window. We'd move the tee times up, but we have members who are coming from work and can't get here early. Thank you for your understanding and here's my address.

Reporting in from Myrtle Beach
We arrived in Myrtle Beach yesterday with just enough time to unload the Lesburu, make a cocktail and make the short drive to the beach. We were rewarded with a beautiful pink sunset. It never gets old seeing one of our oceans, or the Gulf. Myrtle Beach must be the Tee Shirt Shop and Miniature Golf capitals of the world. Youza!!
Before inserting Saturdays results, I want thank our Acting Commish for his never ending efforts throughout the season maintaining our point system. This summer he had the closing of various holes, sometimes changing daily, which required manual manipulation of our daily scores. Dave D makes it seamless for us to show up every time we play. Next time you see him, give him a big thank you.
Closing out the 2020 Old Timer Season..I give you the wordsmithing of the Acting Commish.....
It was a day that gave fairweather golfers respite from the 10-day-cold-and-wet-snap. The temp inched up toward 60 and the wind wasn't unmanageable. Nine Oldtimers showed up to close out the official season. Dennis Kossmann re-appeared after a month-long trip to the East Coast in his RV and in so doing, set a new Oldtimers' record. Dennis lost his sand wedge four times during the course of the round. Three times it was picked up by the Olditimers in the group behind his ... once it was returned to the clubhouse by the group behind the Oldtimers. Congratulations, Dennis! It's a record that will be hard to beat. But Dennis wasn't the only one surprised by a return to the FCCC links. Having trained our finely tuned, but aging, muscles to putt on surfaces that had the same Stimp reading as a shag carpet, we were shocked to find surfaces that were "slicker'n pig snot" to quote one of the Oldtimers. That didn't phase the team of Moosmann, C. Voss and C. Johnson. They split the front with Purschke, Sharma and Dister at +2,and then went on to take the back and total at -3, -1. They were led, once again, by Terry who was individually consistent and superior with +1, +1, +2. He tied for second on the front with C. Voss, and he went on to win the individual back and total. That's two sessions in a row Moosmann has prevailed. And his quota remains at 26 for the next four months! A CPA has figured the game out! Dister took the front at +3, but then quickly faded into the black bowels of abysmal on the back. He did hang on to scratch out a second place tie with Charlie Voss for total at +1. C. Voss had a fine day, finishing solo second at Even on the back to complete his triple cash effort. Sharma and Purschke tied for third individual on the back at -1. Unfortunately, the team of Kavanaugh, Harrison and Kossmann were blanked. Kavanaugh did beg the acting commish to lower his quota for the winter. Sadly, he dropped the same score he added and will remain a 28. A little tip to those who are looking for lower quotas. When the Dalai Lama stiffed Bill Murray in Caddyshack, Murray said he was expecting "a little something for the effort," for lugging his bag around the course. I'll say no more!
Four Oldtimers will have a happy winter season. Purschke drops 1 to 25. Sharma drops 1 to 31. Harrison drops 1 to 25. Kossmann drops 1 to 25. Below are listed the locked-in quotas until the new season begins in March of '21.

Weekend Golf Update
Before I copy and paste in yesterdays Old Timer results...I thought that I would provide a little information about the Mid-America JR Cup played at :ake Forest CC yesterday and today. 8 co-ed 14-17 year olds from both the metropolitan areas of Kansas City and St Louis played in a Ryder Cup format that has been in existence for over 20 years. Acting as a referee for all three matches, alternate shot, best-ball and singles, (I walked 36 holes yesterday, and Lake Forest CC truly kicked my butt!!), I saw some really good golf from the 14 and 15 year olds. The weather conditions weren't very good, but the golf course was in excellent shape, with very firm and fast greens. It was mentioned by several parents that the kids were having a terrible time adjusting to the greens. On the 18th hole of the co-ed alternate shot yesterday morning, both of the teams I was following were above the hole putting for birdie.....both teams putted off of the front of the green and had to chip back on. Instead of a birdie or par...both teams made a double bogey. After todays 8 singles matches the teams for both days were tied 8-8. It was truly amazing to see all of the talent and excellent shot-making from these 16 young adults. Everyone of them I interacted with communicated well and was extremely polite. Golf is alive, well and in good hands. Now on to the Old Timer play from yesterday, as reported by Terry, thru our Acting Commish....
There will be three more sessions (weather permitting) before our season closes on October 31. At that time, the quotas will be locked in until March 1, 2020. I know we all hope a vaccine will be approved by then and we can resume "the game" in relative safety next year.
Terry Moosmann reported the results from the 6-man game on Saturday. The team of Sharma, Kavanaugh and Moosmann outbested the team of Charlie Voss, Hall and Dunlavy on all three legs of the Nassau ... -6 to -8 on the front ... +2 to -14 on the back ... and -4 to -22 on total. Individually, Terry's +2 on the front emerged as the best score. Tom had +1 for second. Terry again prevailed on the back with +3, with Jeff K. posting +2 for second. The same duo, Terry (+5) and Jeff (+1) easily walked away with total honors.
I just have to say, heated carts or not, it was miserable out there on Saturday. Hats off to those who love golf that much. Hats off and a deep bow to Terry and Jeff for actually posting "plus" scores in the most testing conditions of the season. I imagine Ray (-10) was thrilled to be on their team. I know I would've been.
Ray Sharma -1 to 32. Charlie Voss -1 to 30.

Summer Returns For One Beautiful Day
12 Old Timers had a beautiful, slightly soggy day to do a little golfing of their ball. 80 degrees, with a slight southernly breeze and freshly mowed putting surfaces made for a pleasant day on the links. Everybody today took home a little cash, with a couple Old Timers doing a little better.
The team game was divided amongst three teams. Ryan, Jim, and Charlie J won the front with +1. Dave D, Leroy and yours truly won the back with -1, and Bill, Randy and Terry win total with -3. Individual honors was spread out between seven Old Timers. Ryan C with a nice little 32 (+4) won the front, followed by Tim +3, and Bill +2. Leroy with a mighty +1 takes the back, with Randy, and Daves L and A all tying for 2nd and 3rd. Leroy at +2, wins total, followed by Tim and Ryan +1. With the exception of the soggy conditions, a beautiful day did not result in many positive scores. It is good to see this many Old Timers still playing this late in the year. See you all Saturday.

New Quotas
The big news in the world of quota adjustments is that the best player (relative to his quota) was only one of two players who lost a point Thursday. Terry Moosmann -1 to 26. Bob Coleman -1 to 33. However, it should be noted that 3 players are 1/10th of a point away from losing a quota point. Will they recover ... or will they drop? Time will tell.

Reporting In From Northern Indiana.....
It's a chilly morning here alongside Lake Wauwasee in upper Indiana. Our guest blogger Charlie J (aka Loghead) will be reporting yesterdays play. As always, if you don't like what you are reading.........
Thursday saw only 9 of the more robust golfers show up to do battle. With temperatures in the upper 50s and gentle trade winds blowing from the north northwest at 10 with gust up to 18 mph the table was set. With hard pan lies and lightning fast greens many a golfer was tested beyond their physical limit. The team of Bob, CV, and DH stopped their losses and won the front with -5. The team of Terry, Ryan, and Bill stood strong against the elements and prevailed on the back and total with -4 and -10.
Bob n Bill tied the front at even with Dave A alone at -1, Terry won back n total with +1, -1. Bill n Dennis tied at -2 on the back and Bill took 2nd on total with -2. Some guys named Bob, Dennis, n Dave A took third.none of them received their money!!!
From now on the banker (loghead when he is there) will collect the money prior to tee off. A member of each group will collect from each player and deliver to the banker who will have the money ready for payout following the round. It was also painfully oblivious that a 3rd place payout is not doable and should be eliminated.

Old Timers Enjoy Another Beautiful Day
10 Old Timers took to the links for a little fall golf. The surfaces that we putt on continue to improve, but the course is really drying out, especially the fairways. We are experiencing some very tight lies out there.
Bill, Charlie V, and Dave A won the front with +2, but the team of Bob C, Dennis H, and Charlies J and C came roaring back to capture the back and total +4, +2. Yours truly Won the front with +5 (a little 32 if you are counting),Bill second +4, and Rich third +1. Charlie J wins the back +4, Charlie C 2nd with +3, and Terry third +2. Charlie C wins total +8 (67 for the day) Charlie J second +3 (as he shoots his age again), and Charlie V taking home the bronze with +1. Scoring wasn't as good today as only three of us made our points.
Today marks our return to calculating the results immediately after play again. So...if you cannot wait until everyone is finished..please make sure that you give your #3.00 to someone on your team. Thank you in advance.
We are also in the midst of squaring up for play dating back to July 1st. More than half of you have made or been paid funds as of today. I will get to the rest of you when I see you next. Stay safe and enjoy this beautiful weather.

It's Time to Pay Up or Cash In on Your Good Play or Good Luck!!
Effective next Tuesday we will once again be paying our $3.00 after each days play. Please be prepared to bring cash with you to the course. We will decide the daily winners and respective losers after the completition of the round.
It is time to once again divie up the proceeds from play starting the 2nd of July. It is hard to believe that we have been keeping track of our play from the beginning of April. As we did earlier this summer, winnings and losses will be rounded up or down to an even dollar amount. At most you will gain or lose an additional .50. Hopefully, this will not wreck havock with your financial planning for the year. As I receive payment from you that owe, I will be giving same to the winners. Congratulations and sympathies as appropriate!!

Today Was Another Beautiful Day for Golfing Your Ball
To quote our Acting Commish.....it was a glorius day for the Old Timers to take to the links. 15 of us showed up..and after 2 or 3 or 4 different drawings...five threesomes headed to the first tee. In the end only 13 of us finished 18 holes. Don't ask me why...I just report the facts mam.
Two teams battled it out for the front and back as Dave D, Ray and Charlie C outdueled Bill, Dennis and Terry on the front +5 to +4; and tied with Rich , Bob, and Charlie J on the back...+2. They also edged out B, D, and T to win total +7 to +5. 9 of the 15 Old Timers were even or positive for the days play. Scoring as the Surfaces we Putt on continue to improve, which is a positive all around. Good scoring was evident today as yours truly won the front +4, tied King on the back +3, and won total with +7...which if your counting was a smooth little 68. Don't worry...my lovely bride has already told me not to strain my shoulder patting myself on the back!!! Another Charlie V (Mr Hole In One) with +3 takes second, and Dennis and King take third with +2. Dennis and Rich +2 tie for third on the back. King takes 2nd total with +5, and Dennis takes total in third with +4. All in all some pretty good play by the Old Timers. See you all Tuesday at noon.

Better Results Popping Up for the Old Timers
Eleven Old Timers enjoyed the warmer weather yesterday as scores are starting to improve. Two highlights to mention include a second hole in one on hole 14 for Charlie Voss, congratulations CV!!. The other highlight was a snappy 67 fired by youngster Ryan Crow (32-35). Ryan led the team of Jeff K, Dave A, and Charlie J to runaway victories on the front and back with +4, +5. Dave D, Charlie V, and Bill managed to get it together to win the back +3. Individual honors were shared primarily by 3 Old Timers. Ryan won the front and total. +4, +6, and came in 2nd with +2 on the back. Excellent day RC! Ryan's teammates Dave A +2, and Charlie J +1 were 2nd and 3rd on the front. Charlie V with his ace on 14 wins the back +3, and 2nd in total +3. Charlie J +2 was 3rd for total, and his +1 tied with Dave D and Dennis H for 3rd on the back. 7 out of the 11 scores yesterday were even or better. Let's keep this scoring improvement going in the right direction.
Congrats to Charlie Voss for notching his second hole-in-one! His first was 40 years ago!!
Ryan Crow +1 to 35. Coleman -1 to 35. Hall -1 to 28. Harrison -1 to 25. Moosmann -1 to 27.

Beautiful Sunny Day Welcomes the Old Timers
The short cold snap disappeared as 11 Old Timers had a great weather day for golf. The surfaces that we must putt on were extremely inconsistent and a few of the hole locations were questionable. How about that sidehill cup on 16?? The front nine was closely battled with the team of Rich, Jim and Charlies V and C winning with even. The back and total was a laffer as Bob, Bill and Dennis H easily won both. One can only wonder how two teams played fairly well on the front, to completly fall apart on the back. I'm talking -14 falling apart for both. Maybe it was the slow pace of our round yesterday?? Maybe not. Lot's of ties today in the individual side...Bill and Terry tie the front with +2. Four of you tied for third at +1. Dave A and Dennis H tie the back, also with +2. Bill comes in 3rd -1. Bill and Dave A tie the back at +1. Once again a different four tied total for 3rd. Winning a four way share of a $1.00 is better than nothing. Let's continue to wish our surfaces that we putt on a speedy recovery. See you all Thursday.

A Dreary Chilly Saturday
Only 7 Old Timers showed up today for a little 4 on 3 matchup. Today the course gave up little in the way of good scores, with no one finishing with a positive total. The team of Bob, Terry, Ray and his father-in-law Tom swept all three matches with -3, +1, -2. Tom captured the front with +1, followed by a three way tie for second featuring Charlie C, Bob, and Ray at -1. A five way tie on the back with +1 from Bill, Charlie J, Bob, Terry and Ray again. Bob and Ray tie for total at even. Wheneverything was said and done, everyone managed to take back a few nickles from the pot. Here's to some better October weather. In keeping with a fair and even reporting....the surfaces that we are putting on continue to make small improvements in their condition. Far from excellent, but considerably better than before.

October Doesn't Start Out Nice for the Old Timers
It was chilly, it was windy, and it was not nice to the twelve Old Timers who showed up today. Well, one of us managed to end up with a positive day. None other than the current Old Timer of the Week, Dave A....Dave led the trio including Tim and Charlie J to a complete sweep of the team game. Along the way he won the front +3 and total +2. Teammate Tim +2 was 2nd on the front, and Rich managed to eliminate the dreaded shanks from Tuesday and capture 3rd. Terry impreoved 8 points to win the back with +2, as Dave D and Charlie J tied the back at even. Bill, Dave D, and Charlie J tied for 2nd and 3rd for total. See you all Saturday.

FCCC 1, Old Timers 0
Today was one of those Days...When the course came out on top. All nine Old Timers that showed up today were eliminated from Old Timer of the Week Award after the front nine. -1 was the best anyone could muster on the front. Terry, Bob, Rich, Dave A, Bill and Charlie J each tied the front. Rich and Bill righted the ship on the back with +3 and +2. Dave A came in third on the back. All three again won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with +2, +1, and -1 respectfully.
Dave A (Old Timer of the Week), Bill, and Charlie J won the front, -3, tied the back with Dave D, Bob, And Rich at even, and won total with -3.
It was a pretty rough day, chilly, windy, with relatively challenging playing conditions throughout the course. At least we saw the sun every few minutes.

Old Timer of the Week Award
Once again we have an Old Timer that has played well enough throughout the week to qualify for consideration as Old Timer of the week. To recap qualifying guidelines to be eligible for consideration of this prestigious award...An Old Timer must play at least 2 of the 3 eligible days, and not have any negative point nines during those days. This week Dave Aholt went +1, +1, +2, and a stellar +5, +2, +7 to take the honor of "Old Timer of the Week". Well played Dave!! Another Dave, the Acting Commish had an excellent Saturday, but slipped up a little earlier in the week, removing him from consideration.
Several Old Timers took part in the clubs ryder cup matches over the weekend, and a good time was had by all. As I have done my share of pointing out deficiences throughout the golf course, it is only fair that I mention that the surfaces that we must putt on are starting to improve and the stimp has risen a little during the past week. we can only hope that the weather continues to provide good growing conditions.
See you all tomorrow.
